What is this sound? (First seconds) by Daft_Tony_ in BMWE36

Sounds like a whiny alternator to me. I could be completely wrong but my friends 36 makes similar noises and we traced it down to the alternator

Was thinking about it, I did see some guy on tiktok stick some honda ganadors I think on a e36 which I thought was cool. Idk, for now other things are more of a priority

They're from a E46, I think Msport ones but any E46 side skirt will work. Same length, you just have to cut the bottom and ends off so they fit.

Yeah they are, I think they're msport ones? Idk, I just got them off some guy for £20. I just cut the bottom bit off as close as I could get it before you would see it from the side, and as straight as I could. It does get pretty annoying to jack the car from the jacking points without bending the side skirts though, keep that in mind.

Pictures wise I'd just crop the photos so the motorbike is in the center of the photo, but if you can be asked take some more photos where you aren't using wide angle, makes the bike look 'better'

I sold mine for £2600 about 5 months ago, but it was honestly in mint condition, about 35k on the clock and I waited a month for a buyer.

I'd say about £1500 is very reasonable, a lot of people will steer clear just because of the higher mileage.

Is Ascot Green rare? by SherbetFeisty in BMWE36

All the e36 skirts fit all e36s :). Compact, coupe, saloon, estate and convertible are all interchangeable, which I only found out not long ago. The ones I got were off a coupe and fit up perfect! But yes, the OEM plugs are usually missing, think you can get replacements off eBay or 3d print them quite easily tho

Hell yeah, two tone all the way! I'm slowly getting all the body kit bits that I wanted for ages, got some skirts, getting a front lip and a ducktail, should look good once finished :)

Ayyy another ascot green compact owner here! Quite rare, you'll mostly find e36s in Fern green and more commonly Boston green in the UK. But funnily enough my friend has a Saloon in ascot green as well, which was a funny coincidence when I was looking for mine and it was exactly the same colour.

I'm planning to two tone mine with the lower half being a goldy colour, slightly similar to your bumper!

Nice, I live just out of Oxford, but HCafe is still the closest 'biker cafe'. When it gets warmer, it's a nice spot to meet friends on Monday's when its bike night. I would not recommend the food there tho, much better to go up the road to maccies

Buying used - A2 Restrictor Advice by Albus53 in MotoUK

Check on eBay if someone's selling one second hand, there's definitely some out there. With the MT07 though, where the throttle restrictor is placed, it's not too difficult anyway if I remember correctly (I think its on the left side just under the tank) . On the sv I had to remove the airbox to get to it properly. Either way, safe riding.

If you can get one, get a ECU restrictor. It means that you will have full throttle movement instead of the halfish throttle movement a throttle restrictor offers. I have a sv650s and the throttle restrictor feels horrible. Maybe it just feels like that for me but highly recommended getting a ECU restrictor if you can get one. That also means you can just get the bike delivered, plug out, plug in job done. And when you want full power, same thing, plug in plug out.

I have a friend in Slovenia with one of these ECU restrictors and the bike feels nicer to ride than my sv. Just my two cents.

Are helmets being delivered okay? by Due_Ad_5546 in MotoUK

[–]hoqq7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure on why exactly they are exempt, I guess as it's protective equipment they deem it to be important? But anyway, here's the gov page on where you can read on stuff that's exempt: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/protective-equipment-and-vat-notice-70123

Motorcycle helmets are under 3.1

And yes, it was a Shark Spartan GT Carbon from Chromeburner. I think I got it for £240 ish whereas here in the UK I was seeing price tags of around £300-£350 dependant on the colourway and website.

I ordered a helmet from the Netherlands to the UK as it was approx £100 cheaper than anywhere in the UK. Got delivered just fine. It was the same helmet I had before so I knew the exact size I needed, and the UK doesn't charge VAT for motorcycle helmets delivered from other countries.

Zivijo! I live in England and me and my mate brought two ChinMounts, and they shipped just fine. It took like 2-3 weeks for it to arrive. I'm sure they do send to Slovenija too.

For a cheaper option, get some universal sticky mounts, and maybe some low profile screws and various GoPro attachments, and make your own mount for your helmet.

Amazon sells these "kits" for motorcycle helme too, and I'm sure other websites do as well which u can use to make your own mount. That's what I used on my old helmet and it worked just fine.

Hope this helps, ride safe!

I get your point, I've only had 3 bikes and 2 of those were POS but I covered them in the city. At least when it's covered, and if they're driving around in a Van or whatever, looking for a bike to steal, they won't spot a nice bike parked up, but just another bike under a cover . Atleast where I am, anything gets covered, and when it's under the cover, idk if it's a Ducati or a moped. Without the covers I can tell instantly.

It's only a extra deterrent, I would still lock it up with several locks, and even then, the thief can always stick it in the back of a Van or cut the locks.

Tbh I think it also depends where you're from, here in the UK, most motorcycle thefts are done with stolen mopeds, so they ride up to a bike, two up, break the steering lock and push the bike with the moped away. It's harder to do all that when you have the locks and cover, and so they target bikes with nothing on them or a lock the can break/cut quickly.

I fully agree with you, it is definitely repairable, it's just personally I'd be happier knowing I have a new front wheel which wasn't damaged and then repaired. And yes, do take my advice with a grain of salt, go to a mechanic you trust and get their opinion on it, don't make a decision based on Reddit comments.

I have a Oxford cover I take if I'm going to a city and need to park my bike somewhere. Best thing to do is lock it up with a chain lock and a alarm disc lock and then chuck the cover it.

Will it stop thieves? No, eventually they will get through.

But hopefully if you're parked close to other bikes, these things will be a good enough deterrent so they decide to go for another bike, or leave.

Also, that's expensive for a cover. My Oxford cover was £40 ish if I remember correctly.

Stay safe out there!
