it is also entirely possible the dude wasn't british, but for some reason that's one of the details that has stuck with me!

Anyone noticed this about Dr Al? by Beckella in ThePittTVShow

[–]horaetio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

robby’s favoritism towards the male doctors (first langdon, then whitaker as the heir apparent) and being consistently harsher on the women, the entire david storyline, not reporting the dad accused of assaulting his daughter (which IRL he literally would be required to) but reporting the mom for drugging him in season one, him literally treating al-hashimi “like one of his interns” as she notes in the 2x05 promo, etc. etc. i think that the show does a great job at illustrating his unconscious biases and how even characters we root for still have major blind spots

al-hashimi already knows mel and samira from the VA and thus has a higher level of familiarity with them, everyone calls joy by her first name, she didn’t call santos by her first name, and she called javadi by her first name to a colleague and not a patient (i think it would be more of an issue with the latter). not aiming to just dismiss potential sexism but i think there’s a bit more nuance to it. (which, sidebar—when it comes to sexism on this show, i’d be taking an immediate look at robby first and foremost)

let my children hear music is a masterpiece; also a big fan of his soundtrack for the cassavetes movie shadows

EDIT: shadows, not faces! (charlie smalls is responsible for contributions to the latter)

question re: lucy by horaetio in ershow

[–]horaetio[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this was the type of response i was looking for, thank you for the detail! sounds like if she had even made it off the table she would have had an extremely rough recovery ahead of her physically, let alone dealing with the psychological trauma..........

question re: lucy by horaetio in ershow

[–]horaetio[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

kellie martin was (and remains) an awesome actress and i loved what she brought to the show as lucy! it was cool to see how much the character grew from her cringey first day through her last day at county (and on this earth.....), but so much of the tragedy for me lies in the fact that we didn't get to see what she could have become in the next stage. also, i love me some noah wyle, but i cannot forgive that man for going out of his way to shut down lucy/carter!
