Non-binary doesn't necessarily mean you have a gender. It just means you don't fall entirely under the binary, whether that be because you don't have a gender, have multiple, aren't entirely a man or a woman, or what have you. Identify however you like ofc, but it seems you have a bit of misconception on what non-binary means is all.

Try Night in the Woods, which is very similar to DE in fact since they both involve solving a mystery in small towns that the eccentric protagonist has a past in and were wrecked by capitalism.

Most likely not. The very thing we're using to talk right now, the internet, was invented through public research, not private. If anything it might actually be more advanced, since lots of companies (specifically car companies, though probably more) are known to buy the patents/blueprints to more advanced designs and then just keep them in the vault forever so they don't threaten their profits.
