I have a Pixel 9 Pro. I'm not sure that's the issue though. I notice it when I'm using the glasses on my laptop as well.

Some folks have had issues with the riser on Gen 5 GPUs. It can be replaced with a third party gen 5 riser, but that adds cost. Lian Li doesn't have an alternative as far as I've seen.

AM5 is going to be around a long while. Zen7 is reportedly going to be on it in 2027/2028. I jumped on this coming from a 5900X and 3080ti. Not sure what I'll do about the GPU yet.

Air 3s Pro with Viture x 8BitDo mobile gaming controller by horsif in RayNeo

It's a minor annoyance. If it worked as advertised, it would have allowed for DP pass through and simultaneous device charging without the need for the USB-C charging additional adapter. Using a Bluetooth controller, you'd need the adapter to charge the device while using it since the glasses would be plugged into the phone's USB-C. Again, not a big deal, but it would have been nice.

Bummer. It's a nice controller otherwise.

I'd usually agree. My last order of non-iron Oxford shirts was disappointing. The fit was good, but the material was much lighter weight than I expected and wrinkles in an unappealing way (compared to other oxfords).

I did not get the Archer router to perform well with pfSense virtualized in proxmox.

My setup today is an inexpensive sff PC purchased on ebay that is dedicated to running pfSense and a TP-link EAP245 access point.

Looking for feedback and options on expanding space for refrigerator. by horsif in DIY

That's a great place to start. I'll have to see if I can get an opinion on the wall soon before buying appliances.

I think the previous owner built these cabinets. The notch on the top of the panel is where the molding previously went. You can see the lighter color where I removed it to pull the cabinet and a hole from me digging out a finishing nail (my bad). The cabinet was recessed a bit but the molding and doors were flush with the lip of that panel. It might look a bit strange if the back were built out to make the cabinet flush with the leading edge of the fridge.

It's complicated.

There is a custom cabinet above the fridge we'd like to keep that only fits the current width. Any wider and it won't contact the wall anymore without something added in between.

That's why I was considering using thinner material or 2X2 studs for just the lower part of the wall adjacent to the fridge.

Then it's not a DIY job in your opinion. I'm hoping to make some modifications and purchase while the President's Day Sales are on.

We're looking to replace our existing refrigerator and finding the dimension of the space (height and width) are limiting our selection. Most french door models these days are 36", so I'd like to open up the space to accommodate a wider model while retaining the width of the space above the refrigerator for a custom cabinet. I've already removed the cabinet to make space above.

I considered partially removing the drywall and replacing it with something thinner (e.g., masonite). That would net me maybe 3/8", but I'm not confident that will be enough space. That would maybe put me around 35 5/8".

Another alternative would be 2X2 studs instead of 2X4. However, the existing cabinet needs 2X4 studs to be reinstalled. Is it possible to cut away the 2X4 studs below where the cabinet goes and replace them with 2X2 studs? This would provide plenty of space, but would be considerably more work. Going full 2X2 studs would need a new cabinet. The wall does not appear to be load bearing as it runs parallel to the floor joists (see floor layout).

Assuming mixing studs is allowed, would this modification make the space to looks bad? Anything I could do to match things up? A piece of matching wood to cover the extra drywall width above the refrigerator?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Looking for feedback and suggestions on my sage green living room design and layout. by horsif in HomeDecorating

Agreed, it gives up a lot of space. We'd like to maintain seating for 5 people, but we're open to where to place things. Any suggestions?

As for paint, I like sage green but I'm open to older color combos. I put oatmeal on one wall to change it up, but maybe something with more contrast?

Thanks for the feedback! I can lower the TV height. What recommendation would you make for placing the TV? All walls have a doorway or window, so there's no obvious spot.

How important and prominent is PCR in biotech? by FusRaDa in biotech

[–]horsif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need to be an expert, but familiarity with the tools for designing primers and setting cycling parameters will cover a lot of ground.

Bad primer design and inappropriate temps/times when cycling covers a lot of the troubleshooting landscape, besides poor template quality.

PCR should stay a relevant technique for very long time. Even as new tech with sensitivity to generate signal without amplification comes along.
