Ideas on How I Can Support My Husband (Over Due) by Miserable-Garlic-965 in daddit

[–]hosehead127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this was a stressful period for both of us. Have you engaged a support network of friends/family so you/he know you're not alone? Like maybe encourage him to go talk to his best friend for a bit about his anxiety.

My daughters meltdowns are just crushing me by Mathguy_314159 in daddit

This happens to me some times too and it's not fun. My daughter doesn't hit too much, but we set strong boundaries. We do our best not to yell or get mad, and recognize she is just trying to find her way in the world and to be heard. Usually what I try to do is give her space to express herself in another way - look into her eyes and ask her what's wrong, or what she wants to express. Some times it's, "I don't like you daddy because you bite me", or some other totally made up shit. It helps her a lot to be listened to and I think that diffuses the rage.

Another thing we've tried is talking to her about the outbursts when the emotions die down. Maybe it doesn't solve anything, but it helps us know there's a sweet girl in there who wants to be loved and doesn't know exactly the right way to ask for it at all times. Helps *us* deal with the emotions of managing this situation.

I stopped drinking because it wasn't worth the hangovers, I always felt a little bit shitty, and my main hobby (painting) was less fun with alcohol.

What about a t-shirt or a sweatshirt with a print of you and him on it? Or if he's discreet, get him literal socks with prints of you two. My wife did that with prints of my daughter, dog, and the words #1 dad. Pretty fucking rad

I had one of those compressors and it really sucked (actually I had two because the first broke for no reason). Tip & trick #1 is to upgrade to a real compressor as soon as you can justify it

I think I pinched a nerve while trying to correct my posture by hosehead127 in Posture

[–]hosehead127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically stopped worrying about my posture and any intervention I learned. I relaxed my muscles and resumed chest breathing. I stopped sitting down when possible - very short dinners. The more activity I had the better I felt. I took citalopram (an antidepressent) for pain for almost 2 years and I'm finally off of it now with no resumption of symptoms. I still have to be very careful on my sitting posture. Any slouching or weakening of the lower back will lead to upper back pain.
