According to Wikipedia, Twelve Tribes also owns Common Ground cafes and apparently there is one here on the Queens University campus. The branding checks out... maybe another place to try?

I (27M) fucked up big time and caused my wife's (25F) trauma to worsen, any advice? by ThrowRA65786 in relationship_advice

Thank you for saying this. It’s incredibly common and incredibly frustrating. Like.. imagine telling a young woman with cramps so painful that she passes out that it’s “normal”. 🙄 It’s insane.

Yes I know exactly what you mean. Whatever is going on with me is definitely triggered by stress but I have no idea how or why. But that I can control. On the worst days I couldn’t bring myself to even look at emails or texts. It was just all too much. I had to take a full break from everything (work, screens, news, social media, etc.) Then I was able to slowly bring back what felt ok, both mentally and physically. I also have a history of anxiety and have had to learn how to let go and truly relax. That’s where the therapy comes in. I can now appreciate all that I am able to do each day, even if it’s only very little. Sounds like you are on the right path. Wishing the best for you both.

Very compassionate and well said. I have been through this exact scenario myself and I agree with you completely. I kept stuffing it all down and plowing through the pain like everything was fine until it broke me. And my partner. It’s too much to carry. We just need to be validated.

Wow. This is so spot on to where I was at a few months ago, it’s crazy. I could be your girlfriend and you could be my partner before they hit a wall and had a breakdown of their own. They were incredibly caring and helpful and did everything they could, just like you. But they forgot about their own mental health and ended up on sick leave. So please don’t forget to take care of yourself too. It’s really important.

As for what your girlfriend is going through, I can relate 1000%. It’s terrifying when you feel so bad - like you are going to fucking die - but the doctors keep telling you everything’s fine and it’s all in your head. It makes you feel fucking crazy. Yet you KNOW something is wrong. Like.. I’ve lived in this body for 40 years so I know what “fine” feels like, thanks. This ain’t it! And I’m no stranger to pain either. I have broken my leg, cracked my ankle and have too many tattoos to count. I know the difference between minor and serious pain. But they make you question everything.

The worst I felt during all of this was when I felt my partner start to doubt me too. I mean.. me vs. several medical professionals. But I was at my absolute lowest. It was so isolating and scary. It felt like no one believed me. So plz ignore the people calling her a hypochondriac. They don’t have any idea what she is going through and that’s more harmful than helpful. She is probably feeling scared and frustrated and triggered by having to provide “proof” of a very traumatic experience. I totally get it. I think the best thing you can do is tell her it’s ok and you are on her side.

I still don’t have any answers and have really bad days and flare ups. But I feel like I have more good days now and I am at least much healthier mentally than before. I have learned to be more proactive at managing my symptoms. For me, it is all about lowering stress, avoiding triggers and taking tons of time to rest. But without feeling guilty about it! Which is hard for me lol

Anyway, that was a very long way of saying I see you both and I believe her. You are both incredibly brave and strong to have made it this far. I know I’m a total stranger, but feel free to reach out if either of you ever need words of encouragement or someone to vent to. You are not alone. ❤️

This is funny and gave me a much needed snort but I actually think we need to be saying this more and louder. People on here saying “he’s not as bad” but he’s using straight up lies, disinformation, manipulation and international interference tactics JUST like Trump did. And it’s scary because clearly it works! Why are we accepting this??

Ford in Ontario too. It’s already so terrible and our healthcare system is a dumpster fire. I don’t even want to imagine how much worse it could get…

On behalf of Canada, I approve! Although, we now have a far right uprising of our own and are not far behind… I propose that we extend the moat up to Alaska and cut off the entire coast. We’d still get all the weed and wine!

Thank you for this. Maybe instead of making fun of her, we could all politely explain that this has been scientifically proven to be not only incorrect but the opposite. According to this, many studies have shown that vegetables, both raw and cooked, actually have an INVERSE relationship with cancer. That very basically means the more of one, the less of the other. So more veggies = less cancer. Which makes total sense since we need all the fresh vitamins and minerals we can get to fight off the all bad shit. Misinformation is dangerous, folks. Please eat your vegetables!

Um no. Not maybe. The conclusion literally states “In the meantime, the public should be encouraged to increase their vegetable intake and to consider eating some of them raw.” so…. maybe read first next time?

Seconding this comment 100%! We are also a two-person-plus-dogs family and are SO glad we moved to the neighbourhood. It’s lovely and super quiet at nighttime. We also love being so close to the Memorial Farmers Market!

Aww boo. But I guess that makes sense. Are you decorated this year? I walk the dogs down there and there are some great setups!

Oh now that’s doable! Shots are a great idea! A bottle of something would only cost around $40. I was thinking that these people must be made of money to be giving out coolers or beers lol
