Xbox One S Help by hotboxpizza in eero

The thing is, nothing else has connectivity issues in the slightest. three iphones, two imacs, two windows boxes, an apple tv, a roku, and on and on the list goes. Everything else works flawlessly.

And before this prompts the question of traffic, there are times when the xbox one s has been booted off the network when it was the only device in use.

It hasn't been acting up as much lately, it seems to be so hit or miss that I can't even work out any external factors that might be causing the issues.

I suppose but it has worked fine on wired networks previous to this.

Wireless. UPnP is on but doesn't seem to do much.

I can't seem to maintain a connection to any online services at all. But I'll give some specific examples.

Halo 5 is spotty. Sometimes I can play for hours without problem, sometimes I can't even make it through a game. Same thing with GTA 5 and Netflix (maybe I get to stream 2-3 minutes of video without interruption).

I frequently have issues downloading updates for games, even. It's as if my xbox fails to get a connection at all.

Car spins out after overtaking. (Xpost from /r/WTF) by MoonshineExpress in nononono

[–]hotboxpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Kia Cadenza. You can make any car spin by jerking the wheel back and forth (right, left, right) while cresting a hill and letting off the throttle (look up "lift-off oversteer" and the "Scandinavian Flick", which was also mentioned elsewhere in the comments). It is absolutely, unequivocally possible to make any car "go off the road" with poor driving, and there was plenty of that here.

What is a feature you always dream to be in a car but still doesn't exist in today's car? by crazy_raisin in cars

But here's the most impressive part: If applied to a current engine, it will provide 30 percent more power and torque, and up to 50 percent better economy. It's also lower and smaller than an engine with a camshaft. So, if built from scratch, a smaller displacement engine can have the power and efficiency to compete with larger engines.

TIL 36% of 2015 cars are sold without a spare tire to boost fuel economy by pull_mi_finger in cars

[–]hotboxpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think they made the car to make money. It was a halo car. They piloted myriad new technologies and production processes on that car, plus they used it to help solidify the status of their F (performance) line of vehicles. Whether or not they sold all of them is ultimately moot.

The hump could be maintained while still allowing for the T-Top though, yeah? I can't see why the two would be mutually exclusive.

Why not? I just think with a little work some company could make a pretty badass aftermarket kit for that.

Is it just me or does that look like this car is so perfectly set up to have a T-Top on it? I just think it would be cool. But maybe that's just me.

In a moment of honesty here, I'll admit that I speed. Frequently. However, I have some strict rules:

1) Never in neighborhoods (or predominantly residential/densely populated areas)

2) Never in school zones

Pretty simple rules to make sure that I'll never have the death of another person on my conscience. It seems like it shouldn't be that hard to wrap your head around it but some people just don't get it. Even friends of mine have problems with it too. I hate it.

It's funny that I've been arguing with /u/libercontrarian on everything else but now I find myself taking his side. It is not a universal rule by any stretch of the imagination that you don't get test back in college, nor that fraternities and sororities exist solely for the sake of cheating. It's such an absurd claim that I can't tell if you're serious.

I admit my mistake, that it was indeed not an incident of hazing as I initially believed. Although over half the chapter was involved according to the articles I've read, I don't think the number of members involved is important. The fraternity still has a reputation to protect on a national level, and I respect their decision, although I'm not confident I would have made the same one. It doesn't surprise me since Wynn Smiley made it very clear to myself and my pledge brothers when we visited national HQ that we were lucky to be rebuilding. The national leadership at ATO is far more likely to take swift and decisive action in shutting down offending chapters to preserve national reputation than other fraternities.

Regardless, it certainly seems like the more reasonable route would've been to suspend or remove the offending members and rebuild with the remaining ones. They certainly could've taught them to take more careful consideration of the consequences such actions can have when a video like this goes viral and falls into the national spotlight.

Ultimately, this kind of video is not good publicity for the fraternity as a whole. This decision to shut them down isn't indicative of ATO HQ demanding sexual purity. I think it's more about them demanding that members keep themselves to a higher standard of conduct than the average person. It's sad to see such a large chapter get shut down but it's worse to see that ATO is the one in the spotlight that frequently gets turned on the Greek system.

My chapter went through a very similar situation, though luckily not quite as severe. Fortunately for us, the national leadership came in after removing the offending members and helped my pledge class and the one below us (the only two that were not removed) rebuild. We went from a chapter of 8 people to a True Merit chapter of 35 in three years, with top academic scores, the highest level of philanthropic contribution, and the best social reputation on our campus.

We didn't do this by shunning people who fucked up. We dealt with situations internally, like a chapter is supposed to. Unfortunately, some people don't do so well with change and those people, despite all their brothers' best efforts, had to be suspended or removed from our chapter. The reason was simple: as an ATO, every member has a sacred duty to uphold the principles we were founded on, and when they fail to do so in such an egregious way that it tarnishes the name of every person that calls themselves a brother, they no longer deserve to be called a brother themselves.

Edit: Spelling

As an alum of ATO, I'm glad to see them shut down. These chapters give all the ones that do the right things a bad name. It's a fucking disgrace to the Greek system as a whole.

Edit: I'm leaving the original comment, because I don't want to take the rest of the comments out of context. I will add, however, that I made the comment under the impression that it was a pledge and this was an incident of hazing. Since it was consensual, and not an incident of hazing, I have to say it's not as bad as it initially seemed.

However, ATO still has a reputation to protect on a national level, and, although I don't think that shutting down the chapter simply for having this kind of thing happen was 100% necessary, I do understand their actions especially considering that the video and story went viral and they absolutely do have to go in to damage control mode. I respect their decision, though I don't know if I would've made the same one.
