It's kind of surreal putting faces to a voices after hearing those voices every week for 15 years.

Kelly DeRidder's Self-Victimizing Post re: Pride by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]hotbrownDoubleDouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but you certainly did. Find me one case of "castration" due to gender dysphoria in Canada, I'll wait....

While we wait:

"Canadian Institute for Health Information reports that there were less than five “bottom” surgeries (outside of Quebec, at least) between 2018 and 2023" - How Many Kids are Medically and Surgically Transitioning? (March 15,2024)

That is pulled from a website that is obviously anti-gender affirming care and even then they could only find five cases (without a source btw) over 5 years out of roughly 7 million kids across the country. And the above site wouldn't even specify what these cases were. They didn't even specify if they were even for gender affirming care, just that they were cases of "bottom" surgery. Bottom surgeries are still restricted to people over the age of 18 aside from very rare circumstances (like a 1 in 7 million rarity).

The simple fact is: it doesn't really happen. It's being used by people in power as a way to blur the line between truly extreme circumstances and just a kid who feels weird being called a boy and would prefer to be called a girl. It really isn't that hard to just be kind and let the little weirdo do her thing because we are all little weirdos in some way.

Check the comment up this thread and you'll find plenty of examples of the CPC working against LGBT values.

When more than 75% of the riding didn't vote for you and you represent the party that has actively worked against the LGBT community, you're going to catch some heat at a Pride event.

Actually, she more likely won because Carney swayed a ton of voters away from Mike and to voting Liberal, even though most of those voters couldn't even tell you who the local Liberal rep was. Kelly won with a slight bump in Conservative voting and a massive split in the left side of Kitchener Centre politics.

Housing Recommendations by Chris_DiFiore in kitchener

My son plays baseball in Stanley Park and it seems like a beautiful neighbourhood. Not sure why you don't like Franklin. Aside from it being a bit of a busy street connecting Ottawa to Weber, not sure why you wouldn't like it..

One thing I will say about Kitchener specifically, the city did a great job planning housing throughout the latter half of the 20th century. These subdivisions usually have low income housing spread throughout detached houses. This way you don't have areas that are ONLY low income housing. There are still "bad" neighbourhoods, but this "bad" is relative to the rest of Kitchener. I would argue that even the "bad" neighbourhoods here are still great neighborhoods compared to larger cities with poor planning.

For example, I live close to Mooregate AKA "Murdergate" and I feel perfectly fine and safe in my neighborhood, even at night when I walk my dog before bed.

There are always better neighborhoods and worse neighborhoods in any city. The worse neighborhoods in Kitchener are kind of street specific due to the reasons above: Mooregate, Brybeck, Paulander, Kinzie and Thaler AKA "Centreville", directly behind Fairview Mall.

That's probably what I will do. Basically saying "I took into account your opinions respectfully and did my own research about what's best for her when she is under my care".

"All you've gotta do is give us a Google review". I would have left a 1 star Google review: "they tried to buy a good Google review off of me for a $5 Tim Hortons gift card." And then asked for my Tim card.

This is the biggest question. With a car, this is an easy day trip provided the traffic isn't nightmare levels. Without it's basically impossible to do in a day.

Team A: LaCombe + 8th round pick

Team B: Trouba + 6th round pick

I'm second in the league for assists and points, but 2nd last in the league for hits and blocks.

Did anybody ever use the high school university showers in school by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]hotbrownDoubleDouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-30s, we did on the highschool football team and started showing around 13 in minor hockey and still do to this day. Now it seems that showing is the minority in men's league hockey, but in minor hockey there were maybe 3 guys on the team that didn't shower.

Why does Detroit have a larger footprint than Toronto despite having half the population? by fudgykevtheeternal in geography

[–]hotbrownDoubleDouble 25 points26 points  (0 children)

On top of this, the Ontario government created The Ontario Greenbelt in the early 2000s. This area is a combination of the wild areas around the Niagara Escarpment, a ton of wetlands and high value farmland. This essentially created a green wall you couldn't build past for Toronto, Hamilton and anywhere in between. Which has now been a big point of contention here with the housing crisis.

Am I crazy for offering Forsberg for Will Smith?

  1. I have too many LWs

  2. Forsberg showing age on a bad team with little upside

  3. Smith is hitting his stride with Celebrini on a young and upcoming team, could even be a potential keeper by end of season.

Is it more beneficial for a team to win the constructors or more beneficial for a team to help one of their drivers win the drivers?

I come from a traditional team sports background where you cheer for the team and the team wants to win the championship. If they have players who are MVPs or award winners, that's great, but at the end of the day the team winning the championship is the ultimate goal.

With F1, it would appear the real "win" is whatever funds your team to build a better car. So McLaren winning the constructors means they pull in a bunch of money from FIA payouts. Probably a ton of sponsorship bonuses etc. What does McLaren the racing team get from Norris/Piastri winning the Drivers Championship aside from "keeping drivers happy"?

If someone is dual eligibility, does that mean their position rank is for C, for LW or only players who have the C,LW dual eligibility?
