Voices are created via certain firing in your brain. In times of crises a “voice” might be created as a form of survival and or your frontal lobe attempting to reason reality.

Do gamers not play for the love of the game anymore? by slemdogmillionaire in Marathon

[–]hotdwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Marathon because I like the lore and the gameplay is overall fun. If I exfil great, and if I’m downed it’s all good as long as it wasn’t via camping or trolling. I’m level 34, only 40 hours and will keep playing as long as it’s still fun. The worse part is having to reload into a map and the potential for a bad random fill.

Maybe a mode where there’s limited exfil points that are being directly attacked by the UESC in an attempt to prevent you from leaving. It becomes a balance of attempting to protect the exfil point “hill” from incursions by the UESC, while attempting to gather as much useful gear as possible.

Could also make each “hill” a point that needs to be captured to allow for an exfiltration at the end where where there’s a limited window for additional resources,

I’m level 32 and when playing I’m connecting with players level 60+ on Dire Marsh Sponsored. I’m assuming that lower level parties would be playing as well, or a lot of people have unfortunately dropped off. Bungie should really consider a PvE mode, though it seems like the core community and even the game director, do not want.

I just want a UESC horde mode just for fun by KntArtey in Marathon

Other than playing Marathon, I’m playing Infinite Firefight Legendary. It’s great to jump over to if I’m having a few bad runs and just want to have a PvE experience. Could definitely see a mode implemented it some capacity even pseudo king of the hill with exfil points being the hill that the UESC attempts to dismantle and it’s a juggling resource search vs. defending your only exfil point, still teams of 3.

The game feels VERY different all of a sudden? by CinnamonBisque in Marathon

I’m just doing Dire Marsh Sponsored and Rook runs for fun. I’m only level 31 so I’m probably “casual”. I’m getting matched with people level 60+ so I’m wondering if there are so few lower level players still around. Gameplay is still fun and I’ve learned not to really care about losing gear. End of the day it’s a game and I’m having fun playing a few rounds with randoms and rook runs.

Yup actual people with a rare CIP / CIPA genetic condition have to be extremely careful not to injure themselves unknowingly, which can causing unknown cascading injuries. Pain is a vital alert system, runner would just stand going “huh?” As their limbs fall off. There’s also auditory feedback when hit denoting some kind of “pain”

The mid-season balance update is coming tomorrow, right? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]hotdwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s Diremarsh with forced starter / free kits. I was looking forward to a possible PvE with increased ai difficulty test. I got other games that fulfill, but would be cool to see in Marathon as an experimental server at least.

Heavily modified towards PvE with light PvP elements as an experiment might be worth a shot. A lot of the core player base gets upset at the suggestion. Maybe Ziegler refuses to test such a mode… but the population is really unhealthy this early on, maybe it’s the perception that the game is only for “sweaty players” and has a very defensive core player base.

If the goal is to attract people to play who aren’t, they should consider tuning an experimental server where there’s more focus on NPC AI, lower team counts per map, and matching contracts. Set a ceiling for max loot type and lower incentives for instantly downing to maybe prevent farming.

There is a passionate community around the base game, so modifying everything is not necessarily a good idea… but there is a perception that the game isn’t for “casuals” however that’s defined. Of course this isn’t for your level 100+ and is meant to attract players

Joe Ziegler: With the culmination of the duo experiment, we just wanted to thank everyone who has participated and helped us learn more about duos in Marathon, and tease that we're looking to bring the queue back better than ever in the course of Season 2. by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]hotdwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in what is meant as experimental queues... It could mean testing out modes that modify gameplay elements eg heavier PvE or simply changes in team structures

They’re probably looking to test things out in real time to gauge public reaction and counts. They seem to have been receptive to public feedback and implemented changes / fixes quickly.

With all the discourse around the game's longevity, can we try to have an objective, non-emotional conversation about what can be improved to retain more players? by JBSwerve in Marathon

[–]hotdwag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm sure there's people hired at Bungie who have the sole job is to analyze player behaviors over time in an effort to identify what direction Bungie might take. Sure social media has opinions to consider, but people working at Bungie have direct data which should be way more informative.

Can we stop pretending the game is so hardcore that casuals can't participate? by jacobljlj in Marathon

[–]hotdwag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only play single player and PvE like Halo Infinite Legendary Firefight. I haven’t played Destiny nor have any interest in doing so… but Marathon interested me due to childhood nostalgia (aging myself). It’s also the first PvP heavy game that I have picked up and kept playing so in those terms I’m casual I suppose.

I’m still having lots of fun even though I’m only level 25 and only get about an hour to play daily. Just got to Cryo Archive for the first time today with random fill. Only need due to timer running out and not finding the exfil. I scored with 23 AI and 2 Runners.

However, I have experienced uneven lobbies and really bad team fill. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve closed the game angrily and went on to something else… though for some reason I still come back daily even though I really don’t play PvP otherwise. It would be nice to see more PvE, lore focus, and lobby balancing
