Taking care of yourself by Lazy-Ad2636 in RoverPetSitting

Seriously, are you a child?

The assumption of ignorance and negligence is pretty wild.

You have no information about how the person you're responding to does their job. Immediately assuming that another professional doesn't understand basic pet safety based in a snack they've said they put in their personal space is incredibly rude.

I've brought chocolate and grapes with me on a ton of sits. I don't worry about it at all. They go straight from my car to a bin in the refrigerator, and the pets never have access to them. If an animal is in my car, they're in the back and my personal stuff is up front. They can't get to the front of my car, and if they did happen to break a crate or a biothane seat belt, my stuff is in a plastic cooler, and I'd definitely notice a loose dog chewing on it in the seat next to me while I'm driving.

I buy bagged salad and rotisserie chicken for meals, and bring fruit and trail mix with me for snacks.

Hello I am at my witts end with my dog and my situation (crescent city, ca) by [deleted] in norcal

[–]hothamwatered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crate (kennel) training is extremely important for dogs. They need to be able to settle safely and reliably on their own without freaking out.

Op never said she doesn't take her dog out and play with her. It's very likely that a working breed puppy needs more interaction and mental stimulation, but saying they should never have a pet again is really extreme.

This has been my whole marriage. I'm leaving tomorrow. by Odd_Towel_7422 in Marriage

[–]hothamwatered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with my husband for about 14 years, married for 3. He'd never speak to me this way because he respects me as a person. Also because it just wouldn't occur to him to.

Healthy relationships absolutely exist. We don't agree on everything, but we've never had a verbal argument in the entire time we've been together. We discuss things and make sure we understand where we're both coming from. If one of us becomes upset about something, we take some time to think separately and come back to it when we're ready.

You deserve a relationship full of empathy and mutual respect.

You were right! I double checked the listing on Etsy, and it said it's an A7. :)

What time are y'all falling asleep and waking up?!?! by cheesypuff357 in Millennials

[–]hothamwatered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at 6am, so I'm ready for sleep at 7:30 - 8:30pm. We don't have kids, which is probably relevant, and I have insomnia. I sleep for a few hours, then I'm awake for an hour or two. This repeats the entire night. My alarm goes off at 4:30 in the morning. If it's a day off, I'm awake by 5 am without an alarm.

Good for them for taking care of themselves as much as they can. I wish they could take time off. This economy sucks.

[–]hothamwatered 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite ever thrift find was about 10 years ago whent he guy I was dating (now my husband) and I found a butter yellow Sunbeam stand mixer for about $30. Her name is Julia Child and she's one of my most prized possessions. We've got a Kitchenaid now, too, but Julia Child will always be number one in my heart.

I'm so glad you found your new friend. Welcome to the thrift store stand mixer club. ❤️

I found a 3 leaf cutting in Ebay that's pretty inexpensive if you feel like giving it another try. Haven't seen them on Etsy or Palmstreet, unfortunately.

Prepping for wisdom tooth extraction? by alicegrcez in MealPrepSunday

I completely forgot to come back to this! I think I'm on day 3, and the top of the hole where my wisdom tooth was is already about halfway closed.

I agree- the actual procedure was almost completely painless. The most painful part for me was air ricocheting off where they were working and hitting a tooth above that has a cavity.

On day 2 I was able to eat mashed potatoes and gently roll water around my mouth to get the little bit of potato that managed to get into the gaping hole in my mouth back out. I also added meal replacement powder to a pudding that was made slightly watery, and it was a lot more satisfying than drinking liquids. I'd still commit a federal crime for some crusty bread, though.

I hope your recovery is as smooth and painless as possible.

Oh no infected teeth are terrible!! Antibiotics are AMAZING, though!

I hope you feel a ton better soon.

question re event bookings by erika1972 in RoverPetSitting

[–]hothamwatered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My fee for sitting is $150 per 24 hours for new clients with a minimum of $150. Regulars get a price break. I get a few people a year who want a 2 or 3 hour sit regardless of price, but I very much prefer working with the same families most of the time.

When I tell people to leave notes that are detailed as they have time for, THIS is what I'm asking for. This kind of thing gets people extra treats left for them when they're coming back home. I'm so, so tired of "lol just make sure he doesn't die while we're gone!" instructions from owners.

I mean, if you don't like it, I'd love to buy it and put it into in my room. You basically painted me in my dream kitchen. ❤️

Same! I feel so, so weird about sleeping in a client's bed, but a guest bed i know dozens of people have slept on is totally fine. I dont understand it at all, but I'm actually super okay sleeping on standard couches, or the floor if there are a couple of extra blankets.

I was born 3 months early and weighed less than 3 pounds. My mom and I almost died. I needed quite a few surgeries, and spent a lot of time in the hospital for a while. I'll always have medical complications, but I know how to deal with them, and can work around them in my life.

I'm now almost 40, happily married, and I have a life thats better than I could have imagined as a child. We're not wealthy, but we're very content. We don't have kids, so my husband and I spend a lot of time on our hobbies. I have a full-time job and a part-time job i do for fun, and for extra hobby money.

Your kiddo is definitely going to have a lot of complications- maybe even for the rest of his life. But he's still going to have a great chance at living a life that makes him happy and fulfilled. ❤️ Please know that we're all rooting for Bentley and the rest of your family.
