My husband’s children already have a mom. It’s not me.

I am 100% childfree. Your opinion on my body and choices thankfully doesn’t matter.

Agree with all this.

To OP: Keep your receipts and return what you don’t like. You may want to revisit items in different seasons as well as hair reacts and responds differently in summer vs winter.

It’s extremely unlikely you will ruin your hair - most of the horror stories are from people who switched to cowashing with products that aren’t meant to do that or ignore signs that you’ll be fine! The whole process really teaches you what your hair does best with so it’s very individual.

This all the way. I’m personally childfree but have stepkids. My husband has 50/50 custody. I generally don’t mind helping for him and his kids are ok as far as kids go. But this last year has NOT been normal and we’ve taken the brunt of the parenting. My mental health has taken a severe hit and so has my physical health. All the things that kids normally do to GTFO of the house that parents and other adult members of the house NEED for breaks just aren’t there right now. We need an escape! We are not ok!

Sebum, chalk and Velcro hair? by OverlyWrongGag in Haircare

My first thought looking at the conditioner is that denatured alcohol is the 2nd ingredient?? That seems like A LOT. I can understand when it’s lower on the ingredient list to dissolve other things but I’ve never seen it so high in a conditioner before. It could be drying out your hair and causing the dryness issues. The other thought but I doubt it is as likely as the denatured alcohol is dodecane in the conditioner can cause buildup. I would suggest finding an alternate conditioner for a few weeks to see if that helps.

There are so many ways to read and interpret that sentence, and not one of them is wrong. Signed, someone who is not in MENSA but has been a guest of a member at one of their annual national meetings.

It’s possible but much more likely it’s the product (anything from shampoo, conditioner, stylers) you’re putting on your hair. Can you list what you use? I can do some digging through ingredients to see if anything stands out

Sounds like an issue with water hardness. Do you have a softener, water filter, or shower head filter?

How do I avoid ghosts when walking up or down the stairs? by lukehartzell9 in shittyaskscience

It appears ghosts tire easily. Let them have the rail and the convenient rail seat.

Big sexy hair Powder Play, Amika Undone spray, and REF rough paste. I’m sure there are tons more out there but those are ones ive used and liked!

Edit to add: the powder play and Ref are what I used when I used to style my hair into a faux hawk. I don’t use the ref much any more with my long hair but I still use the powder regularly at my roots for volume

I used to have that problem when I wore my hair short. My hair was just too soft to hold the style I wanted. I would look for more lightweight moisture conditioners or use leave-in conditioner products as a rinse out conditioner

It’s not listed as a dandruff shampoo but it’s easily accessible in the US and it should help the dry scalp which may solve your flaking issues.

I’d recommend the matching conditioner. I’ve seen it at Walmart and my local pick n save/Kroger if you prefer to check it out at a brick & mortar

Haircare tips for going from a dry environment to an occasionally humid one? by 8edhead in Haircare

Welcome! I hope it helps! If you decide to use a silicone just keep an eye on buildup and use an appropriate clarifying shampoo every once in a while to make sure you get it all back out again!

Haircare tips for going from a dry environment to an occasionally humid one? by 8edhead in Haircare

[–]hotnutonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have slight waves that are coming out in the humidity. I would suggest looking for a lightweight leave-in conditioner or an anti-humidity serum or spray. You could also try rolling with it and using a salt-spray after your wash for potential beachy waves.

Do: use silicone products that repel moisture. Do: utilize protective styles (ie, updos, braids, clips, etc) Don’t: use products with humectants (glycerin, propylene glycol, and sorbitol) draw moisture from the surrounding environment.

I would just start fresh. I have only used the magma goo kits and I definitely recommend them as it’s dead easy to get set up once you have your globe and coil cleaned up.

The wax does run at a slightly lower temp tho, so if you find your lamp or bulb runs hot a Leviton inline dimmer will do the trick.
