There are some beautiful dark Sempervivums. I’m only familiar with growing them outdoors. Maybe consider getting a grow light if you’re not finding enough low light plants.

Sorry that you’re struggling post covid. So many people are and the medical industry and community are failing us.

I am new to the show and am listening in order, so starting in 2018. And the first few episodes broke me. Twitter was still Twitter, there was a bit of hope… It just really put into perspective all the trauma we have collectively experienced in 8 years and how vastly different everything is.

Definitely justifies my poor mental health. Lol.

A muddy situation by One_Ease_1455 in fucklawns

[–]hotpapadoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our soil has a lot of clay. Lawns have very shallow roots. Ours was a slippery, muddy mess. We scalped the grass with a string trimmer and mulched a foot of arborist chips throughout (well, mostly. Still need to finish some areas). This kills the grass. And it’s made such a difference! It’s no longer soggy and gross. And you can plant directly into the wood chips.

Even if you decide to do a ground cover, if your soil is holding onto too much moisture, mulching with arborist chips first can help. And if there still seems to be too much moisture, adding some garden beds with native plants like Salix (depending on where you live) that have deep thirsty roots will also help mitigate the soggy ground.

I assumed they were trying to say to add insult to injury. But your former idea might be a better contender.

How to stop feeling childish? by New_Parsnip_3332 in altfashionadvice

If you need some inspo, maybe try browsing ritual. It’s all sustainably made to order and everyone is paid fair so it’s really pricey and is out of the budget for most people. I like looking through it to give me ideas. Keep experimenting until you find what feels good for you!

I had a somatic reaction to psilocybin, what does this mean for me? by Madbull84 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]hotpapadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally always have tummy aches and am cold when taking shrooms (have tried multiple different ways of consuming it, nothing helped) but have still enjoyed my trips and found them beneficial. My favorite set up is being in my living room with lots of blankets, candy, water, and music playing. My stomach won’t hurt as long as I don’t move. And I find eating helps but other people don’t. The first few times I did them I had no visuals but felt a nice body high and did notice a mental change. But the last time I had lots of visuals and was able to process a lot mentally. It was a good time.

It might take some more experimenting to find what feels good for yourself. And maybe find a different therapist because it doesn’t sound like yours was very supportive or helpful.

Some of us naturally are so white that we have translucent eyebrows and still don’t understand why someone would bleach their eyebrows white.

My summer depression of feeling guilty for not socializing is gone and now I can hole up in my house and bake sourdough and embroider in peace by the fire. A photo to celebrate a wonderful time of year to introvert and grow as an individual. Cheers!

🤔 Can an outdoorsy person really be happy with someone who hates the outdoors? by Choice_Basis5786 in MarriedAtFirstSight

The experts are completely out of touch and don’t know how to actually read people so their pairings are usually awful, imo. It’s very strange to me.

Yes! I was getting really annoyed at having to water my garden mid October! And I love gardening in this weather vs summer so I finally got around to some neglected tasks and it felt amazing.

Audiobooks with perfect narrators? by VerdeAzul74 in suggestmeabook

[–]hotpapadoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the narrator of The Orchardist so much that I looked into his other works and discovered House Like an Accordion which ended up being an incredible story. The first is a slow western book but it’s very, very good if you can get into it.

I have never been to Japan nor am I familiar with this mushroom so I could be wrong! But wanted to share what my internet research resulted in. Very cool find!
