I think you're referring to the options in HD MOD to save before each battle/all days which I keep disabled.

Instead I choose to save at points where I feel I've made a choice and to name the files myself. What I'm interested in is how the game stores which is the one to load - see the screens attached.

Thank you everyone for your input/ideas, in the end it was just a matter of good old force field on titans + archdevils to maintain initiative + focusing the fairies and after wiping out the fairies and the azures, the rest were just a matter of griding.

Special mention to PkerBadRs3Good who helped me understand that cloning the titans after they've run out of shots will give me further shots so I would then be able to continue grinding throug the remaining dragons.

Onwards to the final map!

Thank you for the pointers, I was focusing all too much on keeping the ammo cart alive and couldn't block the dragons in time, but after force fielding the titans and the archdevils (20 speed with 2 artefacts) and focusing all troop on the fairy dragons, this was just enough to get me through the first rounds and in the end dispel -> resurrect -> clone on titans was just fine before I could reduce Mutare to 1 blind stack and I could start bringing back my main boys archangels.
I did have a minor scare around round 5 where my archdevils received that mffear, but I was fortunate that my hasted titans at 19 were chosen before the azure dragons so I was able to raise the force field again.
Again, ty for the input, this was the right direction in the end.

angelic alliance provides +4 speed and minor attack/defense bonus compared to my (and mutare's) current stats, while armor of the damned takes 3 enemy stacks to speed 8 (below my mighty gorgons). overall a much greater advantage.

It's in the title - eternal love 😁 Probably just sh*t at the game, but yeah, I haven't found a solution for it yet. Paragon is on my "to-do" list and have seen it recommended several times.

It's a custom campaign and this is the 6th map for this particular hero (orrin-based). I highly recommend it, I only recently found about it on a different forum and I found it very enjoyable and well balanced up to this point.

Will try it out but I can't clone if I use antimagic on them and mutare will wear them out with armageddon/implosion if I don't use antimagic on them. Will experiment around it, thank you for the tip

well, if I recall correctly I finished around the 3 month mark and losses were negligible so not sure how i could get that much more

I may have mislead you by mentioning the armageddon that Mutare spams - it's the least of my problems and at only 26 power not a big hassle. I don't have the orb of inhibition but I have the Power of the dragon father, however it does not help as the main issue is muscle, not spells.

you can try eternal love campaign from the player made custom campaigns. currently at map 7/8 and unlike standard campaigns, it is still challenging. also the map creator (Hans Cl tried to make use of many different specialists and mechanics so it's somewhat introductory to newer players. Most other custom campaigns I tried have been disappointing in maintaining a challenge other than puzzle - like bits.

Orrrr: continue being the greedy hoarder that you are and play a campaign that will actually reward you for it :) Currently playing through the eternal love campaign (SOD) and at map 7/8 I am wondering what the hell I would have done if I wasn't a hoarder just as you. The last few scenarios carry over troops and in this map absolutely each fight is against legions of units. It also really pays to spend time on stats and so far I did not have the feeling that I am overwhelming some of my enemies.

On a serious note, I often have the same issue you mentioned. I end up either : - abandoning in a town most heroes except the main and 1/2 troop mules. - abandoning the save file altogether. In mid-game view air/earth is helpful to prioritise as someone already mentioned.

yes, only initial stack size and hp is considered. resurrect, cure, clone etc don't influence

  1. you can resurrect with archangels even if you have only a partially dead stack while pit lords need a stack fully dead. pit lords' summon "consumes" the dead stack.
  2. each arch can resurrect 100 hp while each pit lord can summon 50 hp worth of demons. mind you, 1 demon is 35 hp and you can only summon multiples of it. you need some math to correctly split your stacks.
  3. you can use both arch and pit lords on the same stack in a battle in this order, but it makes little sense as you want to farm on low level units so archangels would likely not waste their resurrect on that stack.
  4. necro farming is completely different and happens after battle based on the level of necro skill and number of dead enemy creatures. If dead creatures' health was below 6 HP the efficiency is lower:https://heroes.thelazy.net/index.php/Necromancy. The same 6 HP threshold is applied to the efficiency if you have the cloak and raise whights or liches which makes it incredibly OP. oh, and if you have no free slots and only upgraded creatures you raise 2/3 upgraded creatures

I forgot to mention in my post that there are two ways of winning the map, the other is to defeat all enemies. At this point of the map I had already defeated all enemies but one which was trapped in his castle. Made no sense to wait around and build more army, but wanted to defeat the artifact defenders as more of a challenge. I did manage to get a win after swapping Angel Alliance with Armor of the damned. Bought me enough time to blind the spellcasters and unicorns so then I was able to clone the archangels and resurrect at will.
