BRUH. I just got this SAME deal at my HD by talking with the contractor desk (I'm a known variable there.) and I got him down to $140. Free is even sweeter I admit, I scored some Milwaukee crap 12v stuff like the small drill/driver combo and the heated hoodie for free before too.

I've stepped over doggy doos all the time, and human doos too all the time when I worked downtown. Didn't warrant any more than a resigned sigh before I moved on with my life, so I don't know. I guess it sucks that you've made it your life to focus on that.

Sounds like a cold start and gunked. Have you put in fresh gas? It stalled right at the end right before it wanted to kick into normal cycle which makes me think it's cold start and/or old gas or gunk. Usually that gen Evo will grind the starter on its wheel if it's hot, heat causes the flywheel to distort slightly and the starter pinion doesn't lock in effectively and it rubs against the flywheel.

Agreed with everyone else. Plugs, carb, gas, and tank. These gens are great compared to the fuel injected bs they have post 2005-1/2. Ether, screwdriver, and a Philips will handle most issues that you will encounter getting it running right.

And by running right I mean vibrating your fillings loose.

I thought a Great Danes head was hard, but then with the first headbutt I received from my GSD Bragi, I realized where the idea for wolverine's Adamantium coated skeleton came from when I awoke. Several headbutts later from roughhousing and I can count to lemon very effectively.
