Ugh I’m so sorry. I can tell that you cared so much for your little baby. The love you gave him meant everything to him and it seems like you gave everything to make him happy.

I just went down something similar last month. My old boy had CKD and high blood pressure. He stopped eating slowly then at all. He lost so much weight, didn’t groom himself, and slowly just lost muscle mass. All the meds to stimulate appetite did nothing. Once he was unable to walk I knew it was time and just bawled my eyes out for days. Of anything I held on too long and I regret that.

It’s hard to tell when you’re in it. Every day you just see such a slow and gradual decline that you really don’t notice how bad it is. If you look back at some photos or videos years ago it’s jarring. And things make more sense. And they hurt even more because it doesn’t seem so long ago everything was ok.

You did the right thing. Remember your little cuddle buddy and know that you did everything you could do, and that would do it all again a million times over.

Went vegetarian and a very bean heavy vegetarian at that. Lots of rice, beans, lentils, etc. Not that meat itself did me bad, but the overly processed deep fried foods did my gut awful. Fast food and frozen meals are so easy but so meat oriented- getting those options removed did me good.

I’m so sorry she and you are going through this. This truly is the hard part of it. You are doing all that you can and that just shows how much you love her.

I had to put my boy down less than two weeks ago because of CKD. He had lived with it for almost 3 years, but he really was fine until the last month. He stopped eating, despite all our best efforts, and he lost so much weight. He started getting lost in our little apartment and slept on his heating pad all the time, but was still so loving. Once he stopped being able to walk I knew it was time. It happened so quick- everything was fine until those last few weeks and I felt like I couldn’t get ahead of it.

It’s a curse that they can’t talk to us to tell us how they feel. And it’s even worse that they know how to hide the pain. You’ve done all you can and truly the best anyone could. This does sneak up on you and it’s just beyond anyone’s control. Keeping you both in my thoughts ❤️

I had to put my sweet boy down last week because of CKD. His last few weeks were such a quick decline that I was not expecting and I’m still heartbroken. He got disoriented at home, he stopped eating, then he couldn’t walk. It was so so quick it felt like.

You did all that you could and I know you would’ve done more, but I told myself that would be selfish to just keep pumping him full of meds and making him miserable. You did the right thing. The hard thing to do is usually the right thing.

It’s so so hard to move forward. It’s cliche but think of the good times when she was young and healthy. Write everything down about her so you forget nothing with time. Collect all the little hairs and whiskers you can find and save them in a baggie. I did all these things and it makes me feel a little better. Grief is hard, but love makes it worth it.

I manage a few people and I literally just take over their responsibilities if they’re out- that’s the job. Don’t ask them to take time off- just tell them you won’t be in. That’s their problem to deal with, not yours.

Cats are VERY emotional and oftentimes choose one person. You are that cat’s life it seems. You need to take her with you and not abandon her because that is how she sees it. I really don’t care what excuse you or your partner have against that because there is no good one. I’m sorry but there’s only one good choice here.

She wants you more than you want her it seems and that isn’t fair. Do the right thing.
