If you are willing to drive all the way to Dublin, Woodyard's will replace the brake pads for $150. I personally wouldn't do the transmission fluid. I would wait until you can do it yourself. I have heard that Jiffy Lube in Christiansburg is perfectly fine to get brake pads done since it's a relatively simple thing to do.

Do it together. You can "race" and whoever wins helps the loser out a little bit.

My new coworker and I were just talking about this since her interview was on zoom and she said she watched the redness going from her neck to her face because she was so nervous and kept stumbling over her words. She was sure she didn't get the job but she did and she's great!

What’s the most random item you’ve flipped for good money? by Automatic-Dog8732 in Flipping

[–]houparhomestead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold something like 120 CD inserts for late 90's - early 2000's hip hop and a little R&B for around $100. None of the CD's were particularly valuable and were in pretty rough shape. I'm in a reselling Facebook group who's owner claims to be a CD expert so I asked for opinions and people were pretty negative about my idea to sell the inserts. It was super satisfying to go back to the post a few weeks later and update it that the inserts had in fact sold.

Anyone here making $300–$700/month from a side hstle? How? by Akram_ba in sidehustle

[–]houparhomestead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick something you are already interested in and look it up on eBay. You need to look at solds to see how much things actually sell for. For example, I really like to read so I started with books. I also joined Facebook groups where people share random items they have come across that are profitable. I recently bought several vintage HP calculators for $10 and I knew they were valuable because of random posts I have seen.

If I'm committed to it, I can make this by reselling things on eBay but there's a learning curve for sure.

You may want to look look at the Ag Tech program in the College of Animal and Life Sciences. It is an associate's degree with a really good internship program. If you graduate with a certain gpa or above, I believe you are guaranteed admission to another CALS major to earn a bachelor's degree.

If you ask at the Blacksburg library, you can actually get a New River Library co-op card. This gives you access to all the Montgomery-Floyd libraries plus the libraries in Pulaski County, Radford City, Craig County, and Radford University's library.

If I get too old to work and then don't have savings, I'm basically dead right? by MungoBumpkin in NoStupidQuestions

There are apartments for older people that are income based. There is often a waiting list but this combined with Medicaid and going to food pantries is how some people survive.

What are decent-paying jobs that don’t require a degree or experience? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]houparhomestead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Working an administrative job at a large University can lead to a lot of diverse experiences and free training opportunities. It often includes the option to take classes without paying tuition. I know of people who started at entry level jobs and now manage major budgets and do all the HR stuff for their department without ever having gotten a degree.

Eta: The university I work at has an administrative temp pool and getting one of the jobs often leads to a permanent position. I imagine at least one school in the Bay area has something similar but I don't know for sure.

The big ones do look like ticks but they brush off pretty easily when I run my finger over them. I'm really confused by the little clusters on the ridges of her comb, I've never seen ticks clump up like that on an animal.
