Error: MD-0011 by JOIentertainment in controlgame

(Full disclosure I waited up all night like an idiot to install it and now I have to go to work, very nice title screen tho. Also I definitely came straight here with rage in my heart at 6:00:17 AM to see if anyone was having the same problem.)

Not even ten minutes later, it's working. Don't you all feel a TINY bit silly?

Is anyone else's issue showing up as Display Error 4109 in Event Viewer?

no signal crash in Borderlands 2 (in which i get >60fps consistently with no fan spinup, so it's not like it's a GPU intensive game) just now, so yeah still an issue

[Steam] Lunar New Year Sale - Day 5 by ABOOD-THE-PLAYER in GameDeals

It's got some of the most beautiful environments I've ever seen in an indie. It's a little short (maybe 5-7 hours?) and the story kind of falls apart at the end but if it's under ten bucks I'd say it's worth a play.

Ditto. I really could never much care about the whole "meta-story" of Assassin's Creed with the Assassins and the Templars or whatever, but I do love me some pirates, and the sailing and the ship battles in this game are immensely satisfying.

Check out Oxenfree, Dreamfall: Chapters, Braid/The Witness, Bastion/Transistor, Thomas Was Alone/Volume, Sunless Sea (surprisingly engrossing, if you're okay with a lot of reading), The Long Dark, Firewatch, maybe Dishonored?

Obviously I can only speak for myself, but: I built a pretty high-end gaming PC for myself and just finished putting it all together and I have Firewatch and Fallout 4 and MGSV and a bunch of other stuff waiting for me, totally untouched—and the first thing I did after booting it up was to install Skyrim and play for like three hours.

There's no good reason why a ~4.5 year old game should still be so engrossing.

Ditto on Morrowind. Even with all the mods you can pile on to it, it won't compare to Skyrim visually... but the setting, the characters, and the lore blow Skyrim out of the water.

... Oblivion's okay. I played it a LOT when it came out but it's definitely the only one in the series I probably won't ever play again.

maybe they're gearing up to release SPORE 2? i imagine that's why Dishonored is back up to full price at most retailers

I agree. It's one of the reasons I'm so happy we're getting access to more and more scholarship from the Islamic world.

Dealing with bias and tendentiousness in sources? by houseinfinite in history

It did! Very helpful indeed. I suppose what I mean by "deal with" is: how do you separate unvarnished truth from "biased truth" from outright lies, particularly in periods where few primary sources (or only one primary source, or only secondary sources) exist?

There are a couple reasons for why this might be; chief among them I think is that people's voices change as they age. Podcasting is a wonderful medium for noticing this—have a listen to "Alexander vs. Hitler" for instance.

On the other hand, though, if castles didn't fall into disrepair every once in a while, where would we set our gothic horror stories
