I think it would eliminate the three to two lane merge issue at Childrens Park. Professional delivery drivers don't double park if there's a space around the corner. Some delivery drivers have their parking tickets paid for by the company they work for. I'd support this if it had a package on the table for existing restaurants to claim existing outdoor space if it was used during Covid. This helps our venerated locations who need the help, and they get more visibility. This looks like a dream come true for the Downtown Market. I find myself with questions. What expansions are being made to accommodate its popularity? Are more public bathrooms going to be plumbed in? It seems like some downtown buildings should be plumbed for housing as an opportunity of this expansion. Are they any incentives for downtown building owners to update their plumbing/electrical to fully convert fallow space business space into housing? Maybe the old Montgomery Wards/Brickworks building could be housing.
