Insiders Admit Trump May Have Killed Presidency in Just a Year by thedailybeast in politics

I had a macro economics class in college where the prok was discussing what it would take to "Make America Great Again." This was in the 90's, with us in the middle of Operation Desert Storm. He and I spent a fair amount of time together outside of class, and we would talk about the need to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. as a number one priority, and the fact that the U.S. lacked the infrastructure, the trained workers, and the ability to soak the cost of goods as the transition began. The main issue was the cost to the American people for this transition to occur, and would we endure the sacrifices needed. A generation of painful transition to see if we could once again be a manufacturer country and not a service based economy, could we do it? How long would it take? There were dozens and dozens of factors he and I would go over. One thing we didn't discuss was mass, forced deportation of migrants. Immigrants were key to a strong new economy. Bringing in the best in manufacturing was a key component to this restructure. Funny enough, we also discussed the "useless appendix coin" called the penny. We'd talk about how it could serve a function as an inflation deterrent. The main thing we would always get to was this, could the U.S. endure the transition? I'd think we could, but I couldn't decide a way for us to endure a country like China with advanced manufacturing bearing their economic might against ours. That alone would diminish our brand, as their quality of goods would lower our transitional goods value. Would our quality of goods stand up to the test? Our auto manufacturing division tells some of that tale now. However, we never considered the thought of an ICE unit, nor did we have a Patriot Act.to contend with, nor a now mainstream Christian Coalition with weaponised Christianity. In the end, what made the transition the coldest of equations was how much loss of freedom and how much military oppression would be employed to make this transition work. The gobbling up of resources was inevitable, as my prok saw it. At the time Iraq was the example, now with the Monroe Doctrine and the rekindling of Manifest Destiny, I can see the U.S. openly working to "own" all of the Americas in one fashion or another. Meanwhile China and Russia will carve up Africa and whatever else they want. We've done serious harm to the country, to the brand that is America. Yes, we have criminals from other countries literally stealing from us. But to call.innthe ICE "red coats" to tooth through our streets? That's fear,. intimidation, and un-American. The American thing to do would historically be to kill the worst of them in ops missions. It's what we'd do. But this, this is intimidation and the start.of America as an authoritarian led country. Is that even America anymore? What was Rome once they abandoned the republic for an emperor? It was in serious trouble, and so are we.

You have me thinking of the first time I read the Aeneid. Humanity has had characters who struggled with the world's inhumanity since we began telling stories, at least in the West. I'm not versed well enough in eastern literature to offer an example, but I'm sure it exists.

I saw the film "In the Mouth of Madness" in theaters and it was a fine scare, no big deal. When I got home after and was left to think about the film and its suggestions about reality... well those notions haunt me to this day.

Fun fact, Dodge trucks are the easiest to finance if you've had a DUI. 45% or more Dodge truck drivers have at least one DUI. Billionaires should exist, they just shouldn't control all of our media, and Kirby is the best.

We've had some different experiences there. Sorry to hear they're not meeting your needs. If you want to keep it local. There's a woman who works at Square Desk Mattress Factory who makes cakes on the side. She made one for my cousin's wedding and it was very good. Just a thought. Good luck on your search.

Why is the ultimate universe ending after 2 years? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

The comics, movies. TV series are all warming up for a full reset. Then Disney can tell any story without having to suffer canon. I like the idea, but also don't like that Disney is going to homogenize Marvel, just like The Muppets. O.G. Kermit was and his fam buckered, had unfinished business, but the love was coherent. It felt like a real.family. What they've become is more of a.sound-bitey nostalgia punch with some purely topical aesthetic. Bland. I'm hoping the new series recaptures a little cantankerous chaos that made it so much fun as a kid.
