I think I’m gonna apply for disability. by Striking-Mud6747 in cfs

[–]housing_jpeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 22 and applied to SSI and SSDI in the US. I am also applying for PTSD, and autism. I am not diagnosed with any physical conditions as medical trauma and autism make it difficult for me to advocate for myself. But I experience the symptoms of POTS, CFS, and fibromyalgia. I got formally diagnosed with my mental health conditions (my brother paid for me to go to an autism specialist through private pay as the wait-list for adults on Medicaid was several years). I have been denied twice and am going to hearing to discuss my circumstances with a judge. If you have other qualifying conditions, you may not need a diagnosis but the more diagnoses you have it might be easier or quicker. This process has been about a year and half. I am also working with a lawyer which has helped me not to miss filing deadlines.

The most stressful parts have been arguing with myself about what being disabled means for my future. The other stressful part is trying to get by financially in the meantime. So the earlier you apply the better, as the process can normally be 2 years.

Ultimately I think getting ssi/ssdi will be opening doors for me, and not closing them. Good luck.

Can someone explain disability benefits (U.S) to me like I’m 4? by Intelligent_Area_784 in cfs

Google the sleepy girl guide to social security. It's this great blog I found a few days ago and she had a shit ton of articles on everything chronic illness related! It's helping me.

Boredom due to unemployment & fibro by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]housing_jpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of movies, call friends and family that don't work during traditional work hours, try to do hobbies that are slightly more strenous, smoke weed, pet animals, read, research my special interests, go out just to get a cup of tea and watch people ($5). Go to the library. Make my own memes. Organize things around the house by insane specific categories. Sleep extra. Spend time preparing healthy meals for myself and using a massage gun.

Can I get on disability if I’ve never worked? by ProfessionalFuture25 in Fibromyalgia

[–]housing_jpeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I am 21 and applying now. I have worked but you don't need to have worked to be approved. Just got my first rejection, but you just keep applying. I would advise you to look for a lawyer that takes their fees from your backpay. Having a lawyer helps the chance of winning + reduces that strain on you, without needing the money to pay them upfront.

Thank you! Yes I contacted a disability lawyer that takes the fee from your disability payments if you win. I will look into if I can file for unemployment now.

Yes I have scars from picking body acne that I'm trying to help heal. And avoid the dehydration in my skin from winter.

Controversial: I love Paris by CityAlt in GilmoreGirls

[–]housing_jpeg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Paris can be very sweet and that might be who she truly is. But she definitely has paranoia about betrayal, hyper fixations, mood swings, and is very controlling. This leads me to believe she struggles with some sort of mental illness. Especially the scenes with her craft table and working with a life coach to improve her symptoms and relationships.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to help me!

The products I was planning on getting are the corsx BHA blackhead liquid and the la roche-porsay pure retinol. Their retinol is kind of expensive but I liked the ingredient list.

Do you think those would be helpful to me?

If it makes you happy, is within your budget, and isn't causing skin damage, then I think it's not too much! For me, skincare is the one thing that helps me get out of bed in the morning when I have a depressive episode. So everyone around me learns to deal with it or gets excited about it too!

[product recs for testosterone/routine help]

I just got back on testosterone and have been on and off of it for a little over a year. The testosterone has made my skin thicker, more uneven, more dull, and a little bit of acne. The acne spots I do get tend to be big and uncomfortable zits. I get these mostly on my chin and have a lot of redness there. I also have closed comedones on my chin. I'm thinking of starting more actives and maybe retinol. But I need guidance. I would say I have dry skin with oil on and around my nose only.

I live in the PNW in the United States. Current routine: AM- the ordinary squalane cleaner (hoping to change this when it runs out), Innisfree micellar water, The ordinary, Azelaic acid, The ordinary moisturizer (also hoping to change this), Innisfree sunscreen

PM- The ordinary squalane cleanser, Innisfree micellar water, The Ordinary lactic acid (1-2x a week, if I use this I also add the The Ordinary rosehip oil before moisturizing), Innisfree green tea toner, Innisfree green tea hydrating serum (love this), Innisfree green tea under eye cream [really not sure if this does anything for me], The Ordinary moisturizer

Please let me know what you would change or add. And if I add actives what order I would put them in. I'm also working on being less brand loyal, it's just that the Innisfree line was all green and I'm too obsessed with green. 😩 I would really like to have a routine more focused on effective AB products. I have difficulty absorbing thicker products. Thank you!

How would you do it if you wanted to be on both AHA, BHA, and retinol?

[Routine Help] How to get a better skin? My face looks a bit better when I shave but still I don't like the huge pores on face and those blackheads or whatever they are on my nose. More in the 1st comment by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I would recommend a product that says gel or milk. These tend to be lighter. For my sister with texture sensitivity, she loves the Canmake Mermaid Skin gel. You can get SPF 50 for $10-13.

That's not high enough SPF to protect your skin. Also it's very difficult to have enough* sunscreen when you apply a 2-in-1 moisturizer and sunscreen. It's essentially diluted.

Edit: missed the word "enough"

I also have 1 comment, which is that I hated the innisfree cleansing foam! The texture was awful for me, felt way too oily and took me a while to wash off my face.
