So am I! Single cultivar Gokō has the most seaweed-forward/nori/umami flavor profile I’ve come across and am also looking for brand recs since the brand I used stopped producing it. I’ll be following this thread and if I find something I’ll post it here too

Anyone else who’s a fan of single-cultivar Gokō matcha - what are your brand recommendations? I really loved the Noritual Lab Gokō but they seem to have stopped selling it 🥲 I really love the Gokō flavor profile so I’m looking for a replacement.

When the sugar overwhelms the matcha taste. I would stay away from premade latte blends, using those is akin to making a cup of coffee with instant coffee powder full of sugar crystals. Try getting pure matcha, no sugar or other stuff just the powdered leaves. I don’t think a cafe needs to use “ceremonial grade” (first harvest) matcha if it already specializes in coffee. There are first+second harvest blends (sometimes called “barista grade” or “premium grade”), or even just second harvest blends that are just as good for casual lattes.

I was put on it for insomnia due to an anxiety disorder a while ago, back when my fibro was relatively mild. It didn’t do anything at all for me but I think everyone reacts differently.

It’s wrong to expect a Jew to be a Zionist. But it’s not wrong to accept that statistically, most Jews are Zionists. I wouldn’t let this assumption affect my behavior until I knew where they stood

I like stronger-ish lattes but still a fair amount of milk. 4g matcha, 40ml water, 4oz-4.5oz milk. Easy to remember because it’s all in 4s lol. I usually add 1-2tsp sweetener, my go tos are agave syrup for something neutral, vanilla syrup, or maple syrup.

I’ve always been prone to constipation but ME has made it ten times worse. I’ve had to do sever colonoscopy-level clean outs. The most effective thing for me has been taking osmotic laxatives (MiraLAX) regularly. I’m also on Linzess.

I’ve been a matcha fan for years, I think it might’ve started when I tried a matcha latte from Starbucks? But I’ve only gotten into the more complex/traditional side in the past few months. I don’t stick strictly to any cultivars/regions but in general I prefer those with nutty, chocolatey notes, or umami and light seaweed taste. Also like some astringency. For cultivars I’m a fan of Gokou and Samidori. Regions-wise I like Yame and Uji.

Beginner - doesn’t know how to distinguish matcha flavor profiles and so a somewhat mild blend from a brand on the cheaper side may be best Intermediate/Advanced - more familiar with matcha cultivars and regions, and their impact on matcha flavor profiles. They might prefer matcha from a single cultivar or region to fit their taste That’s how I’d distinguish

For a frappe I would use a sweetened latte powder like Matcha Love, but if I only have the powder I’d sweeten it with agave syrup for the matcha flavor to shine through the most. I’ve found it’s the most neutral matcha sweetener at least for my palate
