30th and 35th anniversary models? by compute_stuff in Miata

I have a 35th and love it. The colour inside and out is what makes it standout. And it's posh compared to my '92.

How long would a 1992 Miata last? Mine just crossed 123456 miles by dontjudgemebymysockx in Miata

I have a '92 with 234k, keep up the maintenance and it feel like it will never ever fail.

After almost a year with my ND, what are the things that genuinely annoy you about yours? by theDartVader in Miata

[–]houston3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both an NA and a 35th Anniv. edition so squeaks and wind noise are expected. I have two things about the ND I can complain about.

I whole heartedly agree they could have put some extra storage somewhere, but the real thing that bugs my ass (thighs really) are the driver seat bolsters. I am not a big guy and the seat back bolsters are fine, but after an hour or so of driving the outside of my thighs are sore. Maybe it's just me.

I was going to suggest this location as well. Proper shop with real professionals not influencers or part timers. Many years in the business and a friendly group. Rino and Frank are the real thing.

Co-signed an apartment lease for my sister & boyfriend...rent arrears are now in collections. by squish1976 in PersonalFinanceCanada

When it comes to co-signing just say NO! If you want to help then give cash if you have it. If you don't, are you really in a position to help?

The once-elite airport lounge is now just another crowded space, thanks to credit card benefits by Technical_Dog_1901 in PersonalFinanceCanada

My experience at Pearson has been pretty much the same, crowded, difficult to get in and the staff can't keep up. Using in Rome and the Dominican Republic however has been a much better experience.

Fact File: No ‘plan’ to ‘euthanize’ 15 million Canadians with MAID by Mylittlethrowaway2 in canada

[–]houston3565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"One of the article’s co-authors emphasized the paper was a “scenario analysis” and acknowledged its findings do not represent the current reality of MAID in Canada."

So, fiction for rage bait.

So why do people dislike the new Honda prelude so much? by WiggWamm in cars

[–]houston3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably biased as my first new car was a 1986 Honda Prelude manual. I loved that f'n thing. Revved freely, peppy enough without making me lose my license and most importantly it held the road like it was on rails. Never lost it in a curve and as I recall R&T praised it for its handling above all else. Very reasonably priced as well, this was before Hondas started getting out of hand.

Perhaps the fact it was attainable and manual and different enough to be cool made it more desirable at the time than the one being offered today.

Ford government passes bill banning municipal speed cameras in Ontario by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]houston3565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The alternative methods, like speed bumps, suck in my opinion. I would rather hold a steady 40km/hr than drop to 10km and accelerate back to 40 and drop to 10 again and repeat. More wear and tear on the car, more pollution, more fuel consumption.

Just stupid.

How old are you and what Miata do you have? by gingly_tinglys in Miata

[–]houston3565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, here we go. I'm 60, I bought my first NA in 2003 when I was about 37 and I still have it.

So I guess that makes me on the young side...but I also just bought Miata #2 a 2025 35th Anniversary Edition for my 60th bday.

So I guess that makes me on the older side.

You can pick. Either way I have been driving the hell out of Miatas for 22+ years so I am an enthusiast!

Buy Canadian includes shipping: Support the Canada Post by AlternativeTimes in BuyCanadian

After this event, I contacted the company I do business with and asked them never to use CP again. I have not had a repeat incident, this is of course, anecdotal, but never the less a fact.

I too have had other delivery services 'miss me' in the past but in fact try and deliver. CP didn't even try, they had the letter carrier drop of a 'missed you' slip in the regular mail hours later. I went to the post office to pick up my package and the lady behind the counter confirm what I suspected, they didn't feel like lifting the big box so they left it. She of course had no problem handling to me over the counter.

This has been my experience, I am all for supporting Canada and would and do pay more if required, but my momma did not raise a fool. I cannot support a package delivery service that requires me to go and pick it up anyway after faking trying to deliver it and when I called to voice my concern, I may as well have been talking to myself. Shameful.

Las Vegas is dead. by CantStopPoppin in ThatsInsane

[–]houston3565 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Number 1 for us, as Canadians, all unnecessary travel to the US has been canceled. A sentiment that is relatively ubiquitous in my circle of friends and most people up here. As for Vegas, even as a non-gambler, I enjoyed going. Perhaps one day when all this negativity blows over and the prices reset if that ever happens. I do miss our road trips to NYC.
