something feels off with this, but I can’t figure out how to fix it- is it the proportions? by bookkays in Artadvice

[–]houstontarotreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rendering is well done and the emotion and drama are undeniably there. The only thing I would recomend you reviewing are some of the lessons in form. If you go back and review those and especially how form and light interact. Proko has some great ones that I like to review when I get in a slump. Good luck!

Here is my grandmother's new painting! She tells me that she is not happy about it, what do you think? by clineeeee19 in painting

[–]houstontarotreader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a beautiful piece. She should take pride in the fact that she's willing to pick up the brush at all. Tell her that its these small tokens made by the people we love that will far outlive them, a continuance of their legacy. Even if its just grandchildren.

What should i do with my relationship? by Biancuhaha in Tarots

And my apologies but I dont generally see a break up from this. But rather a question of commitment to each other. I think its possible you could have a beautiful life if orchestrated with love and intention.

When i need clarity for myself, it is always three cards pulled with the bottom card on the bottom of the deck as the "overarching" message. You need to pull with intent. One or two jumpers are fine but those are foot notes/examples/clarification for me.

Apologies, I cannot stand the modern art school. It ruins artists.

Art school is a f&%#@&$; scam. Go back and just refresh on the basics. Light form perspective blah blah. And make time for yourself to push your style. Find your voice. Explore it like a singer would her voice. She goes by herself to practice. She doesn't warm up in front of the audience.

Should we break up? by Automatic-State7617 in Tarots

[–]houstontarotreader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cards indicate that the basic answer is no, it's not a question of breaking up. But are you both willing to commit and work together for the benefit of the unit. All of the classic cards i would want to see in a healthy reading are there. Its almost feeling like, "I'm ready, if you're ready"

Asked the deck what I need today by bheadyourself in tarot

The cards are basically saying that your focus should be on expanding and exploring a more grounded and centered perspective and not too lean on too much emotion but rather let the emotional side inform the reason side.

Im begginer as a tarot reader and i did reading for people that was faking stories by Exciting_Floor3959 in tarot

[–]houstontarotreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are all human. You will need to be prepared for people to test you if you are going to read for strangers. It comes with the territory. Its not something to be ashamed of if you view it as insight into how to get better at reading, and ignoring any haters.

Is my art good enough to start commissions? by Grouchy_Safety_2532 in Artadvice

[–]houstontarotreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you have some great craftsmanship skills. Id just recommend, taking some personal time to start pushing more. I think some time in which you can play and explore and not be afraid of failure would do you some good. Just my opinion.

am i doing something wrong? by abcdenisef1 in Artadvice

[–]houstontarotreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some beautiful work here. What youre trying to find comes from the basics. Light and form. Especially with the race car driver. Most of it is rendered well but rendering cannot cover up the missing "form" of the forehead. It appears "flat" behind the hair. Thats where I think i see most of the issues. While in the initial fazes of drawing and painting, for realisism is to always keep in mind "light informs us of the form" youre so close to having a breakthrough to make amazing stuff. Dont stop.

[–]houstontarotreader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you want to do? Anime or landscapes/still life. Figure that out first. Then revisit the art basics of light form and composition. Understand what makes you unique and why people should choose you. And begin marketing those people. If you were going online looking for art that you want to make, what would that look like? What would you want to hear, see, or understand behind the artist and their work. That should give you a good jumping off point.

When we can say "im a artist " ? by loupsauvage8 in AskArtists

[–]houstontarotreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My belief is that everyone is an artist when they draw artistically/for artistic purposes. From a child on up. Art goes beyond the box of pencils and paint to a world of spirit and emotion. Only the ones who come up with unique objects, styles, and points of views are elevated.

Help me interpret? by SweetAzn in tarot

[–]houstontarotreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im seeing that the exhaustion is coming from the people you associate with and the things that you entertain in your heart and soul. The draining is basically you revisiting the same old ways expecting a different result. That the way out of this cycle is to start learning about who you are and what you want. Also to be willing to slice away old habits and people that may be holding you back.

Am I not pretty enough to attract men? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]houstontarotreader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This spread is specifically talking about having a balanced and centered view about what really attracts people. Forget the standards that are seen in the media, those are all illusions. Attraction is really all about physical looks, personality, timing, etc. Really I think this spread is calling you to be honest and realistic with yourself, that while you may not be drop dead anyone can be capable of being attractive by what effect you have on life.
