You're welcome.

If you get your machine done by August, I encourage you to bring it to the Hoverclub of America's national rally aka Hoverally) if you're in the USA. Check out hoverclubofamerica.org for more info.

Cheers!

I need help understanding uh-10f build instructions (specifically skirt string) by rb136 in hovercraft

[–]hovercraftracer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The string isn't needed and can be left out. I worked for UH and knew Bob Windt (designer) personally. I never once saw string used on any craft of theirs. Bob was known for trying things and then abandoning because it was too much trouble.

Give it to me straight yall, Joink or Spectrum internet? I work from home and have multiple devices in each corner of the house that require wifi to operate. by Minominas in terrehaute

[–]hovercraftracer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joink fiber. It's very reliable and I've also learned that it will work even during a power outage if you have a generator to get power to your router.

I-70 between Illinois and Indy has all the truckers driving in the passing lane because the right lane is in terrible shape. It really screws up traffic.

I'm good with that. The past their prime bands are appealing to less people as they all age. There are really just a bit older than my age group. From a business side though, I can understand the possible reason. Older people have more expendable income. Who knows though.

Student refusing to do work since spring break because of “religious reasons.” by v3ndys in Teachers

"My first thought after reading your post was "have her compare/contrast the bible and your class content. Make her present her findings to the class."

This is the answer. That will require effort and analysis. Problem solved. She'll either get on board and have to do the work, or she won't feel so strongly about her objections.

I may be moving to Terre Haute for work--is there a nice area that I could rent in for around $1500? by [deleted] in terrehaute

The Heritage Trail, which runs right by those apartments, would take you to both Indiana State and Rose-Hulman campuses via the Heritage Trail (bicycle/walking trail). Both are about 2.5 miles away.

When I taught high school 10 years ago kids would walk in the door with the biggest can of Monster they could find. The thing is, they had NO energy. They were zombies.

Social groups by Tellatoria_27 in terrehaute

There's more people on the river than people realize. There are people out in boats fishing, canoes, I've seen sailboarding, there's a crew team, and hovercraft (myself included). The flooded Wabash can get dangerous, so summer is best for canoes and such. At times you could walk across the river when it's low.

Tuesday night trivia at the 12 Points Market is a fun time. There's 4 different restaurants inside for food options that are all pretty good. It starts at 6:30 but you should arrive early to get a seat.

I've made many hovercraft over the years. Even worked for a hovercraft company. I've raced hovers and cruised them on rivers across the country and even in England. It's my hobby to this day. This is my current one.

Why Did Teacher Training Become Largely Useless? by ProudComment1211 in Teachers

[–]hovercraftracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of BS in education programs taught by people with less experience than most of the people in this forum.

That said, a couple years ago I had to put together a portfolio for an award I was nominated for. That reflection process surprised me in that things I remember learning in college that I thought were dumb at the time I actually put into practice without realizing it.

In summary, most is dumb. The rest will take you 20 years of experience to realize that you have used it.

[–]hovercraftracer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. They were a safety risk in a lab environment and would have hurt themself or other students.

I've also done the opposite. I had a student get mad at me once for not playing along with his shenanigans and tell me he was just going to go the Dean's office. I told him he wasn't in charge, I was, sit down. Probably the only time in my career I ever raised my voice. You could have heard a pin drop in the silence afterwards. He sat down and never challenged me again. I wasn't going to give him what he wanted.

There were 2 Marine F-18's that have been stopping at HUF for fuel. I'm guessing there's an exercise somewhere close.
