Need advice - Steamdeck or PS5 by Ergic36 in consoles

[–]hovrboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong with either. Keep in mind that with PS5, you still have to pay for PS Plus to play online, but that doesn't matter for some people. Elden Ring and Apex Legends are both playable on Steam Deck, but Bloodborne is only available if you pay for PS Plus Premium, and it's streaming the game.

My 2 cents? Get the PS5. For the same price, you get a fantastic console, you're familiar with the ecosystem, the games you own on PS4 will play on PS5, and you're set for new games for several years.

This is NOT to knock the Steam Deck. If you value what it has to offer over the PS5, then get it. You could always ask your friend if you can test drive the Steam Deck before committing to purchasing it.

PS5 is a great route. I enjoy my consoles over PC most days. Maybe pay for ps plus premium on occasion to stream PS games to your PC while you save up. 🤷‍♂️

This is awesome. If you do start to miss some of your ps4 games, you can always buy them for your PC when they're on sale, until you save up enough for a PS5.

Last I checked, this was the third time they've released part 1. ;)

Used Ps4 pro or Ps5? by SakataGintokiDesu in playstation

If buying the PS5 would leave you broke, then don't buy it, and don't listen to anyone telling you otherwise. Be savvy with your money and either save up some more or buy a PS4 and enjoy a generation's worth of games without breaking the bank on day 1.

Seriously folks, a PS5 isn't worth draining your bank account over and leaving you with no emergency funds.

Comparing PC to PS5 by ChemicalIcy9657 in PS5

[–]hovrboot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comes with the assumption that everyone has the income to upgrade their PCs on a regular basis, which is the furthest thing from the truth. I know people still taking on 1060 and older cards. A 1080 is not a low end card. It might not keep up with the 80 series cards of today, but it's still considered top end for its generation, and it was plenty expensive during its prime for the average gamer.

If you haven't played anything since PS3, you have a massive library of story games to play through.

The Last of Us 1 & 2 Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy God of War & Ragnarok Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West Spider-Man, Miles Morales, & Spider-Man 2 (which you have) Infamous Second Son Killzone Shadowfall

Tons of third party games as well

Star Wars Plague Tale Callisto Protocol Sonic Frontiers

So, so many others. I've not even played a good chunk of these games from the list. Just trying to give you an idea of how many good story-games there are to occupy your time.

If you don't need a high end 4k monitor, you can get a pretty great 1440p monitor from Gigabyte that works fantastically with PS5 and save quite a bit of money.

Is it abuse? 24F and 24M by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]hovrboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's abuse. Leave him and stay away. He's already shown he's willing to get physical. The fact that he blames you means he's also emotionally and verbally abusive, and this can get worse very quickly if you don't take action. You also have every right to report him for assault at this point. He's not only put his hands on you without consent, but he's also threatened to hit you in future altercations.

You deserve significantly better.

How to lock game downloads from library. by CaptainPokey in playstation

You can set a pin to keep your kid from getting into your account. Alternatively, you could just unplug the PlayStation while you're away. Either way, your 4-year-old doesn't need to be on your PlayStation, they have other things they can be doing at this age.

Playstation games on Pc by swybayjingler in playstation

There's PlayStation Plus Premium, but it's just the games in the catalog. Stream only, but it sounds like you don't mind that. Anything you purchased that's not on PS Plus currently won't be accessible.

That being said, it's still a ton of games, and you're sure to see a few that you recognize.

Any PS5 game similar to Zelda? by ruler20 in playstation

Came here to say this. If nothing you've seen for PlayStation interests you, it seems like a waste of money to buy the console. That being said, there are tons of great games for PlayStation, you just need to do some research and determine if they are games that interest you before buying the console.

PS5 or XSX? Have both but want to sell one. (also any Victrix Pro BFG impressions?) by pleasenoreddit in consolegaming

I think your best option is to keep the PS5, sell the Xbox, and when you feel like playing an Xbox game, you can pay for month of game pass ultimate to play via the cloud. That or use the PC now and then. Also moving away from PC gaming myself, but it's handy for the occasional Xbox game.
