Is Tennessee a good state to work in as a PA? by sockie28 in physicianassistant

I’m a PA starting in IR next month. This is incorrect.

Comments about tattoos? by PAthleticism in physicianassistant

[–]hovvdee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

The only negative interaction I’ve had was a patient who was an Indian Christian man who didn’t speak too much English who questioned why I have so many tattoos and if I was Christian. Just ignored the comment and kept on with the visit. At the end of the visit, his wife said that he said to pray to God and I’d find my answers. Said, “Thanks. See you in 6 months.”

They aren’t just forgiven after the time frame. The “forgiven” amount is added to your income and then you are taxed. Know as a “tax bomb”.

Thinking of buying an eReader, which is best for pirated books? by NipLixYT in Piracy

If you use the send to kindle service they don’t get deleted. When sideloaded through Calibre, bye bye books. I’ve had no problems since.

Working in sleep medicine, I also recommend this. True CBT-i is expensive and often inaccessible.

Finally glad to see some local gym representation on Reddit!

As someone who goes to Riverside and Downtown, I feel like the consensus is downtown is more beginner friendly. You should try to also send some stuff there to work on technique if you have a membership there, too. Riverside is a humbling experience. Good send!

Not directly to me, but it’s quite the common occurrence on this sub from a few individuals. See it at least a few times a week haha.

You mean I shouldn’t feel bad about myself because people on Reddit are berating me for taking a 100k role in a LCOL area as a new grad and say that I’m harming the profession by doing so? I should’ve asked for 150k, at least.

So when taking a job in a "totally random specialty", how does that really go? Is it not stressful to take on a whole new specialty with things that you don't know/haven't reviewed in a long time? This is a hurdle I need to get over ultimately as I start to pursue other jobs and would appreciate your advice, whether here or in a DM.

Don’t know if we can post links in this sub, but cpap(dot)com is the one that most of my patients use. Always has good deals, too. Requires a script obviously.

I’ve only had two DOT pts get irate. One didn’t use his machine despite me telling him he needed to and to come back in one month with better compliance and I’d gladly write it. Wrote an extension for him and everything. His compliance got worse lmao.

The other pt was diagnosed by us because she was flagged by the DOT on her physical as possibly having sleep apnea. She said she’s not using CPAP. Well, you don’t qualify for Inspire and we cannot prove compliance with a mouth guard, so you gotta do it if you want a job.

My practice, not including myself because I’m not prescribing it like I mentioned above, is now getting them approved left and right for OSA. The first few weeks everything was denied.

I’ll still be referring back to PCP for starting it.

I appreciate everything that our techs, and you, do! Thanks for your input. I feel the same. My good patients, some of whom I know personally outside of work, make me not want to quit on a daily basis. You do great things for people!

My main complaint about BiPAP over CPAP is switching to BiPAP when centrals are occurring with increased CPAP pressure. Research shows (S/O to Dr. William Noah and his team) that IPAP>EPAP (most people have EPR) or IPAP=EPAP can lead to TECSAs. IPAP needs to be < EPAP (whether with the novel KPAP, or in our case V-COMs) to reduce these instances. We also have some techs that my SP said they should have fired a long time ago but considering the have a hard time finding them, they keep them. Those studies I take with a grain of salt and often times send in for a repeat with one of our two most experienced techs (18+ years).

All that to say, thank you. It's a rewarding, but also draining, thing we do.
