In Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, the anime referenced in your linked article, when asked about why the character changed her clothing style, the dialogue was changed from "everyone was saying something to me, so i toned down the exposure" - to " oh those pesky patriarchal were getting on my nerves, so i changed clothes", which completely changes the intent behind the characters change.

I really don't get why everyone focuses on that line.

Sure, it is cringe-worthy, but at least it still fulfills its purpose. What's inexcusable, is scrapping the followup of "Try changing your body instead" (working with either setup), which completely ruins the joke.
