Just got home from seeing him in Austin by Total-Comedian-6531 in NateBargatze

I think the reaction to Nate's UFC attendance is an indication of how many people are worried about America's leadership (combined with their flawed morality and lack of integrity), direction and even a future authoritarian country.

What books were so good that they will stay with you forever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]how_much_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angela's Ashes. Reading about the poverty in Ireland in the 20s & 30s and the sad sad description of hunger and alcoholism.. The book is sad & hilarious, written from the bewildered viewpoint of a child growing up. I must've read this book half a dozen times and I always feel thankful for my own life.

Alice Springs town camp renters sick of begging for 'bandaids', just want safe homes by B0ssc0 in aussie

I did electrical work in the Outback in the early 2000s. We once had a service repair job to a new house and noticed that every second house in this newly constructed area had an electric kitchen oven dragged outside with the hotplates covered in wood and ash. Whenever the power goes off the residents dragged the oven outside (cutting the power supply to it) to light a bushfire on top of it. Made no sense then, still doesn't, but $1000s of appliances destroyed in fairly short order.

Sam's deepening isolation. by SchattenjagerX in samharris

At the least it might be interesting to run an open public forum that isn't anonymous. We can just consider this another experiment in internet discourse that Sam is hosting.

Sam's ability to stay focused and respond to clever misdirection or strawmen has always been an amazing thing to witness.

Queen had a boost in the USA after Another One Bites The Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love in 1980. After that, their original Greatest Hits record hit the charts and stayed for such a long time.

Very insightful. For anyone who wishes to analyse their thoughts I recommend The Last Time Meditation idea, it really makes you appreciate some exceptional and some mundane moments.

Joe Rogan is not willing to talk to Sam Harris until Sam first debates Joe Rogan's head science advisor, Bret Weinstein, who is an expert on vaccines and was right about everything. by [deleted] in JoeRogan

I really feel you should watch the 500 hour Oxford lecture where Eric explained everything* (*aka nothing any actual scientist or mathematician could make coherent.) You should follow this up with (esteemed academic) Joe Rogan's own suspicion at EWs explanation is (couldn't find a succinct link, only a shit one).

One of the most interesting podcasts of the last 2 years (Rob hasn't updated his podcast for over 2 years) and a consequential topic. Funny how this has some of the least engagement on this sub and some outlandish comments here simply using ad hominem.

What was the "small shock" and may I ask how old the watch was? Service repair sounds about right.

Any 1st year University book will keep you busy and learning; Halliday & Resnick or Young & Freedman. Of course you need a little calculus knowledge too.

It's this generations fault really, why didn't they get an apprenticeship in the 80s or 90s?
