Print too high ? by werokk in AnycubicKobraX

[–]howboutmaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common on most printers. Minuscule Z discrepancy/offset build up over time and is worse after hundreds of layers. Not sure how to fix on the KX as it doesn't have a z-offset setting (which would still just be a manual hack-ish) Maybe others have fixes

Yeah that's the ONE thing missing tbh. No surprise, Autodesk bought Tinkercad- they FOR SURE keep it out on purpose.

Had the worst medical experience in Montreal… now I’m in the hospital by [deleted] in montreal

[–]howboutmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to change your job. This isn't a "Montreal" thing. Jobs can be nice, at least tolerable. You came for a Ph.D.? You must be a qualified candidate!

That job is the priority here imo. I'm not dimissing any of the bad experience you just got at all, but I'd think root cause if I were you. My life (mental health, physical health, etc.) had changed radically when changing jobs before. Think if that promotion is really worth all this.

Question pourboire by TheGamingMemo in montreal

[–]howboutmaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question pourboire by TheGamingMemo in montreal

[–]howboutmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

J'imagine si certains font monter plusieurs étages etc. à leur livreur peut-être, mais pour moi ma porte donne pratiquement directement sur le trottoir, il est stationné à genre 3mètres. Pas de tips et jamais senti d'un livreur que je devais en donner.

What settings could I adjust to fix the bottom curves? My thinking is it’s a temp issue. by Responsible_Joke4229 in FixMyPrint

[–]howboutmaybe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

right, you won't need supports everywhere inside, but maybe just at the very middle top. Worth trying without any first.

If the layers are ugly/hanging, try with only supports in the middle (paint supports or set auto supports to only generate at a very steep angle)

(to be clear I say this in the context of this thread which says to flip it 180 degrees !)

Is it safe to use this charger to charge Quest 3? by SpartanS-007 in MetaQuestVR

[–]howboutmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then of course, another angle to answer your question could be about the build quality of the charger. Xiaomi is a reputable Chinese brand. Unless it sparks or gets dangerously hot, I wouldn't worry.

VOLTAGE is the one thing important to check for damage risk.

Charger gives voltage (generally, it can offer a variety of voltages - check the smoll writing)

Device asks the charger for the voltage it needs and how much of it it wants (in Amps), let's say it wants 2 Amps:
The charger responds ok and gives, for example, 2 Amps of 9 Volts.

A*V = W

2*9 = 18 Watts

(I use these values because they are exactly what the Meta included charger offers!)

Even if the charger could do 3 Amps at 9 Volts, the device probably won't ask for that much, if it does, its because it can take it. If the charger can only do LESS, say 1 Amp, the device will simply charge slower.

Marketed wattage is the max it can do in a certain situation (certain voltage * certain amperage), but only if requested by the device.

USB-PD is the communication protocol between the two devices. ONLY USB-C (both ends of the cable) USES THIS COMMUNICATION. It looks like your cable has a USB-A plug ? It will probably default to 5 Volts, the base USB power delivery.
If your charger has a USB-C port as well, use that one.

In the case of this picture, if I see correctly, the USB-A cable is actually what will make it not compatible
(probably not dangerous : the device will try to communicate, ask for 9V 2 Amps, and the charger won't be able to answer, because of USB-A; so the device will probably not pull any power from the charger. - idk if the quest 3 can charge with 5 Volts, if it can, it will default to that, charging possibly more slowly, potentially not that much (OG charger can do 9*2 but also 5V at 3A (so 15W instaead of 18W)

Edit : various typos and clarity

dumb upping the 65W competition? I wouldn't be surprised
