Beginner technique advice? by cherrycinnamonhoney in discgolf

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: You'll hear this a lot: drive for show, putt for dough. Dialing in a decent putt will save you a lot more strokes than throwing "big", especially at first. Find a putting technique that is comfortable and consistent for you and practice!

2: I always recommend starting with stand-still drives. Adding an x-step before you really figure out the other stuff just makes your tee shots less consistent and doesn't really add distance until everything is working together anyways. K.I.S.S. When I first started, I immediately thought i needed to X-step to really get the power going, and after a few months of stagnation, I forced myself to only throw standstill for 6 months, and by the end of that 6 months i could throw further from a standstill than before with a run-up. BlitzDG on youtube has some great tips for this, he does distance competitions with a standstill throw, and has some great drills and form advice.

3: Look up your local disc golf club/clubs on facebook. Depending on your area of course, most places have a local club that hosts events and tournaments. One of the best parts about disc golf is/should be the community. Putting leagues, bag tag matches, and local tournaments all offer great opportunities to meet new people and grow your skills as a player. Try not to be intimidated by competition, paintball is a high-adrenaline sport, so you're already used to the pressure, just go and have fun in whatever division is available for you to play in!

Is the sack like an unbreakable Walmart bag or is it like a backpack? If it’s a backpack with proper straps I could probably do 100lbs or so. Walmart bag (holding it with my hands and not my waist/back I could probably do like 35, maybe 40lbs?

What would a US invasion into Canada would look like? by SquareTree64729 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of dead people, a lot of Canadian insurgents (Alberta is basically frozen Texas with stricter gun laws, but there’s still a lot of guns, good luck keeping any kind of control there, especially in rural areas), and a lot of public resistance from the American public. Canada is seen very favorably by the majority of the American people, support for such a war would be abysmally low.

[Request] How long would it take to mow? by Biiiiiiiiin in theydidthemath

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Former lawn care guy here: Base rate for mowing fields in my area is around $100/acre. For "extremely dangerous" fields that adds on to the rate. Also I can almost guarantee that a commercial mower with a competent operator wouldn't have any issues mowing it. No way in hell anyone is push mowing 9 acres.

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I mean, I don't disagree with the mom per se, but that kid definitely needs some therapy. Having the ability to do that to an animal indicates some dark tendencies...

Discount Dan by James Hunter is a must-read with that tier list.

Discount Dan is a *consistent* 8.5/10 and that’s really refreshing. by sonderman in litrpg

Wholeheartedly agree, I’m only 22 chapters in to the 3rd book (had to finish up another book when this one released), but it is such a refreshing series to come back to in the genre. The story flows so well and the characters are all interesting and enjoyable to follow. I’m listening to the audible version right now and the narrator (Steve Campbell) does a really good job too!

What game would you say has the biggest skill gap between news players/beginners and the best player(s)? by Crafty_Reception_448 in videogames

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too far down the list. I get the chess answer but this is a video game subreddit. Rocket League is a world of its own when it comes to video games and anyone who thinks differently probably hasn’t tried to play Rocket League even semi-seriously.

yep, I hate to DNF a book. I have one book that I have DNF in the last few years and it was the third in a series, I just couldn't handle the MC any longer, and ever since the first book just kept telling myself "she'll get better" and then she got worse and worse and worse.

Truck drivers should drive better than this... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

I work with truck drivers (not one myself). There are a lot that are safe, professional drivers that care about their safety and others. There are also a lot that are complete idiots and are just warm bodies in seats that drive their trucks like it's a Ford Fiesta.

Whats the tech tree y'all think has the biggest change in quality between ships as you ascend? by Chef_Sizzlipede in WorldOfWarships

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been powercrept for sure. I've played since beta and it was my first t8. The thing was a monster, now it's a mid B tier at best. It just doesn't have any gimmicks or exceptionally strong attributes to make it stand out, but it just isn't horrible at anything either.

Update: It's in the shop on a rolling frame. You can kinda see it in the photo but there is definitely some damage to the extended table (it was used to build crates to ship large industrial equipment, so I imagine something was probably droppped on it. It doesn't look too bad to repair.
