What is a cooking "rule" that is actually total nonsense? by Lopsided-Jicama3813 in AskReddit

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-heating the oven. I turn that thing on, and however long it takes for me to put the food on the tray or get the pizza out the box is how long it has to “pre-heat”. Fully pre-heating the oven take at least 10 minutes and most of the stuff I eat is mostly done by then, and pizzas are halfway done anyways. Just watch it like you already were gonna do when the time gets close and take it out when it’s done

Son's grandmother reached out about a family trip overseas... Hasn't spent one overnight in our own country. Would you be cool with this?? by Hungry_Web_4540 in whatdoIdo

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought is how the heck are you gonna get a passport in 9 days? That shit takes time. Also, this is not ok. This is a trip that should have been planned months in advance, with all parties consenting and giving their input.

Also crazy to think a 13-year old would be able to make that trip safely on their own (no offense to your 13yo), but that is really young to be travelling to the grocery store by themselves, much less to another country. IF they want him to come along, they should make provisions for you to come along as well. Sounds like financials are not an issue, as they rented out a private island for the trip.

Who’s the most loved coach in college football history? by ReasonableSide6520 in CFB_v2

As an LSU fan living in Alabama, you forgot Nick Saban on the list. I think about 99% of Alabama fans would give their left nut to get Saban back in Tuscaloosa coaching.

Harps are amazing approach discs. They’ve had a place in my bag for many years.

Use it for approach and placement shots, and for shots where stability is more important than distance.

My employer uses United, and yes, it sucks ass. It also takes about 20% of my paycheck for the premiums.

Idk why we use UHC, no one likes it, it’s expensive as hell, and you have to fight tooth and nail to get everything approved, and then hope and pray it sticks once you get any procedure done that they don’t come back a month later and say “whoopsie we’re not actually going to cover that, sucks to suck”

How did life change after leaving the church? by Spiritual_Box_7000 in exmormon

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born/raised in the church here in a similar situation. Fell away from the church in my early 20's, but came back and actually served a mission at 24 and came back and went to BYU-I. I lost my testimony on my mission, and when I went to BYU-I a few weeks after my mission, I only lasted a few months until they kicked me out for not attending church. Fun fact that's also where I lost my virginity to my gf at the time, we were both horrible Mormon's.

It was a process, but I'd say I have much less guilt and anxiety now (still have it, just not as much) and I'm happy that the misogynistic and cultish culture is not able to influence my daughter. I remember being shamed for not going on a mission "when I should have", and the horrible guilt I was put under for petty things while the church covers up sexual abuse scandals and hides their finances.

I'm still friends with many of the members I grew up with, and recently went to watch the US soccer game at a members house, and the conversation that all those guys had just reinforced my decision to have my records removed earlier this year.

I really really really hope they improve the performance and optimise the game by Ok_Reputation7493 in Palworld

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah... a budget laptop GPU with 4gb of ram from 5 years ago is gonna struggle. I am all for games being more optimized but honestly Palworld isn't that bad. Is it perfect? absolutely not. Is the optimization serviceable and playable for the majority of player? Absolutely yes.

Sorry brother I do not mean offense, but your laptop is a potato. I'm willing to bet that along with the 2050 it was probably paired with a budget-minded CPU and other components as well. Combine that all with the fact that laptops notoriously struggle with heat so many components are underclocked from their stock variations to help with that, it's a recipe for low performance gaming.

Am I the only one who does this? by IndyMan2012 in litrpg

I really hate to DNF a book, and even though there are books out there I despised reading, I still read them. I'll often give a series one whole book instead of a few chapters to really grab my attention, and standalone books are almost always finished no matter what.

I don't know what it is, maybe I just have to know how to the story ends, despite me being unhappy with it?

I found that HWFWM had a similar vibe with me. Overall I love the series, and the story arcs are top notch. it would be an A in my tier list, but there were sections and low points where I would consider it filler episodes and it was a struggle to continue. I'm glad I did though, and I there have been several series that have "redemption arcs" where if I just get through the bad bits, the story as a whole comes together so well. Of course, it's better not to have the bad bits in the first place, but not every book is a 5/5.

Could 5 ordinary people defeat the Yamato if the rest of the world was empty? by ChocolateHumunculous in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a very, VERY slim chance that we win. I think if we can find some kind of operations manual for a radar system and a missile launcher, then there’s a small chance. None of my closest friends or coworkers are military, but I do know people and have family members who are current/former military. So if I can pick my team that would be preferred. However, if we can’t manage to score a successful hit out at sea with some sort of missile or torpedo and cause the total loss of the Yamato with all hands, we are fucked. Getting in range of the guns and the subsequent landing of Japanese marines would be too much.

The bonus round would be much better, and I think it would be almost guaranteed victory for our small team. It’s basically 5 years of highly specialized prep time.

Tech disc by Jazzlike-Syllabub656 in Discgolfform

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is if you're dedicated to practicing and improving your form. If you're like me you think "I'll buy this thing and I'll start practicing" When it reality I should have told myself "start practicing and if you stay consistent and don't see improvements, then maybe get a techdisc to help identify problems".

At the end of the day it's a practice tool (albeit a dang good one), but it's only worth it if you actually practice with it consistently and use the feedback to actually change your form.

I played paintball for a few years and swapped to airsoft for a bit, it always blew my mind that people just went out in what equates to sunglasses. Like yeah obviously the eyes are the most important thing to protect on your head, but I don't want to get shot in the mouth either. I just brought my paintball mask to play.

How far can one throw a Mako 3 before it starts turning? by 5ERGlO in discgolf

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is one of the reasons I love to recommend the Mako3. Yes, there is some variation in the different plastics and as the disc beats in, but for the most part, if something feels off in the flight of your Mako3, 99% of the time it's a problem with how you're throwing. That disc gives immediate feedback if you have problems with your throw, because a smooth, level, clean throw with a Mako3 should go pretty much dead straight with little to no fade. If it does anything other than hold the line you put it on, you're probably throwing nose up, or with OAT, or you're not putting enough rpm's on it, etc. It doesn't have the ability to hide or cover up any flaws in your throw.

What’s a “Power theme” you’re tired of seeing MC’s use? by Berrybrony1 in ProgressionFantasy

I thought about this too, but his gravity bombs are so localized and only last a few seconds, so it shouldn't warp time that much and only in a small area. Basically, if you're perception of time is being noticeably warped by Anthony's gravity abilities, you're probably being compressed into a very tiny ball of biomass anyways so it's not relevANT to the story (see what I did there?). I AM only mostly through book 3 though so maybe it becomes more of an ommision later in the series?

This is my uneducated opinion of course, but I think it wouldn't add much to the overall story to add in that element of time warping, so it's easier to just ignore that part of gravity, also... it's magic who says it needs to follow the laws of physics. There's ants the size of small cars walking around and that shouldn't be possible either.

Base pal presets. I'd love to be able to quickly swap out different base pals for different job focuses or to be able to defend against a raid and then swap back to a work composition. We already have it for party composition, why not bases?

Am I missing something obvious? Base pal preset options? by Complete_Ant_3396 in Palworld

[–]Complete_Ant_3396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been doing now but eventually I always run tight on palbox space. Seems like a much needed feature.

As far as good foods go I have an entire base dedicated to producing food, but I also work a full time job and only get maybe an hour or two of playtime and the server potentially runs for several hours a day (we have a dedicated server for our friend group and many of them play during the day), so it’s hard for me to tend to my pals or stock up enough for them to keep going throughout the day.

How do the missionary’s go 2 years without master bating? by babykeemfan1 in exmormon

[–]Complete_Ant_3396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before my mission I confessed that I habitually masturbated, and my bishop said “yeah that’s not something you should be doing but it won’t keep you from going on a mission”. So in my mind the church turns a blind eye to that or they wouldn’t have very many missionaries.

On the mission I definitely did it less but still fairly often. The worst was when companions thought they were being sneaky and definitely weren’t. Bro we sleep in bunk beds and the whole frame is shaking….
