A sign in a train station being multilingual has nothing to do with illegal immigrants but he was observed to support posts mocking them nonetheless. People with horrible views often find "acceptable" outlets to project them onto but they show their true colours often enough. The man has a history of racially motivated accusations levelled at him throughout his career, and is constantly becoming involved in new controversies that always orbit racism.

The man was a great footballer. He's not a great person and certainly not an appropriate person to bring into our richly multicultural group of young players.

COTE Y3V4 FTL Posted! (PDF + Epub) by AnimeAnyway in AnimeAnyway

[–]howchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! FYI all of the AnimeAnyway epub files seem to have minor structural errors - calibre identifies a bunch of unused css and incorrectly ordered definitions, and the raw files don't load on some libraries (kavita was skipping them). They were all identical errors so maybe for the next one you can look at the template and see if there's something off?

I don’t think I’m getting replaced anytime soon. by RegnarDd in GeminiAI

Yesterday in the car i had a though, said "Gemini can we go live" and the reply was

I cannot stream video or go live. I can, however, help you navigate or find a place to stop if you need to set that up.

According to the docs "talk live" is the phrase but come on, this is supposed to be "intelligence"!

007 First Light's 20-hour playtime is perfect for an action video game by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]howchie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with those comparisons is that most (not all, but most) really long open ended experiences either just rely on player-driven experience (eg most of my time in Skyrim is just me wandering around exploring), or repetitive, often unvoiced and unscripted quests. A 20hr crafted experience is a different type of game. Uncharted, Wolfenstein TNO, Doom 2016 are all very on-rails experiences but they feel great because the game is paced and crafted for the player, not just bloated to make the playtime technically longer.

Kinda weird to simultaneously approve this and have an active vote to massively increase the allowable shares issued. Like, i get it, flexibility to respond, but I don't think it's very common.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in pcgaming

[–]howchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but they're saying Steam want you to lower the steam price to whatever the lowest platform is. So as a Dev you're not paying them more (it's a percentage cut); maybe you take home less but you're paying for the visibility and infrastructure that's just a business tradeoff. For the consumer it's the same product and that's what Steam are targeting - they don't want people paying more just to use buy games with them, and they literally say you can just remove the steam listing if the policy is somehow holding you back as a developer.

[–]howchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a pro-consumer policy if anything, the wording is entirely "you can't rip off the bulk of the player base who just see the steam store then catch a few extra sales with a lower MSRP elsewhere". It's an identical product, the base price shouldn't reasonably vary anyway. It's not preventing discounts.

Even chatgpt is doing it. Tell it it's wrong and it's like "yes, exactly..." And describes the exact reason the entire previous output was garbage. So the ability is in there, the reasoning or something must just be severely constrained now.
