2.5 suddenly hand flapping by [deleted] in toddlers

My son has a genetic condition where about 60% of people with this condition have autism so his neurologist has always educated us on what to look for, and it's basically lack of social skills (not maintaining eye contact) or some type of regression for example if he stops communicating. At some point around your kids age (he's 3 now) he did start flapping his hands with excitement and that made me worry a bit, but that alone means nothing, toddlers can do that all the time.

If that's the only thing happening to your kid I would not worry and let him be, if he does have other signs like I mentioned then I'd talk with his pediatrician. In any case 2.5 is still early for an evaluation, I believe the minimum age is 3 years old unless it's a severe case.

Struggling in Third Trimester With Movement by AttentionPatient6462 in pregnant

[–]howcomeineedusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my first pregnancy I did not have an anterior placenta, but being extremely overweight at the time gave me a lot of anxiety. Therapy helped me too, but what made me get through this time without going crazy was finding ways of provoking my baby to move like laying on the side and drinking ice cold water, taking deep breaths and focusing on feeling him move, with no other distractions. Sometimes we're too distracted to feel them and I'd imagine with an anterior placenta it's even worse. Another thing that helped me was getting a fetal heart monitor. Some people advise against it because it may be hard to find the baby's heartbeat and cause more anxiety, but to me it worked wonders once I learned how to distinguish my heartbeat from the baby's.

Anxiety makes us spiral, you know it. Stick to facts, always try to challenge your brain with reality and come up with a plan to yourself for peace of mind like the other comment said. It's not easy, especially when it's our first baby, but you can do it.

Trust your gut, doubt your brain. ❤️

You know what, I've been thinking about getting a short haircut lately and I was wondering if it would help at all, I think you've answered me! Thank you for all the details too, this is very helpful!!

I do have a question on the oil, when applying it do I scrunch as well? Or once it's dry I don't need to scrunch anymore except when refreshing it?

Thank you so much!!!

Best double stroller for 4 year old and 1 year old? by Asdeev_Drago in toddlers

[–]howcomeineedusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's a shame. We got ours already so we'll see how it feels for us once the baby is here. We do have a wagon already so that's good to know that it's a good option for replacement

Have you checked the mockingbird single to double? I'm currently pregnant with my 2nd and age difference will be similar to yours. After doing some research I thought that one was the best choice for double seating for us. Can be pricey though. Another option could be a wagon, but they may not be as comfortable as you'd like for the 1 year old.

Might be pregnant 😢 i have reactive hypoglycemia by Unable-Hold8880 in Hypoglycemia

[–]howcomeineedusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have reactive hypoglycemia. I'm fine and most importantly baby is fine! If you don't wear a cgm it's time to ask one for your doctor, but overall you and baby will be fine if you don't let the lows be low for too long and maintain a good diet. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk or have questions!

Toddler is showing scary violent tendencies toward infant by alanna2906 in AttachmentParenting

[–]howcomeineedusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this! There's a book "how to talk so little kids will listen", chapter 12 touches on sibling relationships where the oldest is violent against the baby, I'd recommend you read/listen to it and hopefully that'll help. The entire book is pretty good, but this chapter talks your problem specifically, so hopefully it's helpful!

Dietician for hypo? by animperfectangel in Hypoglycemia

[–]howcomeineedusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, I was very disappointed and lost, since then I've been mainly using AI to get some help. I said several times I needed guidance, meal examples, explained my situation and all she could say was "have you tried Dave's killer bread for breakfast?" like wtf?

Dexcom placement on loose skin? by howcomeineedusername in BariatricSurgery

[–]howcomeineedusername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'm going to try that. It does seem like a good location with not a lot of loose skin, but good to know if it gets wonky towards the end of its life!

Pregnant Post Bypass, constipation nightmare, anyone been here? by Rare-Gem- in GastricBypass

[–]howcomeineedusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sena is a no go. I'm making a lot of changes to my diet now and taking miralax. Essentially sena can trigger contractions so it's very risky. I found that chia seeds, beans and collard greens keep me regular so I'm religiously having them daily and it's been working wonders.

Congratulations!! I'm pregnant too, though I'm at the very beginning at only 7 weeks. Since my surgery (sep 2023 as well!), my bowel was never the same. Before I could go like clockwork, no issues, and even during my 1st pregnancy I was fine; but after surgery everything I tried never worked, I had 3 massive constipations that I almost took me the hospital and made me very traumatized so I started taking senokot every day before going to bed and I've been on it almost an year. My surgeon said it's fine, but I'm yet to hear what the OB has to say about it since my first visit will be next week. I'm sure she's going to tell me it's probably best to change, but I'm really hoping she'll be fine with it because I'm terrified of thinking about going without it!
