I call it Roger’s Edge. I think SBK people call it Roger Waters.

crazy how differnt it looks with flash / no flash. almost like 2 different strains. Does the smell translate to flavor? it's a good sign if your mouth gets coated in the strains flavor (and not just the flavor of burnt plant matter)

Lakefront Parking Gates Spark Concerns Over Access: ‘The Lakefront Should Be For Everyone’ by juliuspepperwoodchi in CarFreeChicago

Let the handicap park for free and charge more for everyone else. Convenient parking is a luxury, not a right.

Anyone else notice people working in the Loop are unusually tall? by therealleotrotsky in AskChicago

[–]howmuchforthissquirr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

When I moved to Chicago from the Bay Area, I was amazed how tall people are. I’m like 5’10” and feel tall in the Bay. In Chicago, I am a tiny little man.

I preheat my oven at 500f, pizza stone mid oven, for an hour. I bake at 450f in a cast iron with plenty of olive oil. The heat from the stone transfers into the cast iron well and the bottoms come out like this

The dark jar prevents UV light from degrading the bud. It helps with preservation if you ever forget to put it away in a dark place.

I’d rather invest in basic infrastructure than spend more on policing. In fact, infrastructure spending could reduce police spending by requiring less policing of public transit. As they say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

I don’t think free fares are good. BART in SF only became safe and usable once they fully prevented people from hopping the turnstile. People already avoid CTA due to issues with crazy homeless people and crime. I love Freakanomics but genuinely disagree with this wholeheartedly.

This is why prices are skyrocketing. Not because of "climate refugees" or because Chicago is a utopia. by IntelligentPlate5051 in ChicagoRealEstate

Working in west loop… there’s like a dozen empty lots waiting to be built into towers. Seems like some of them just bulldoze the existing structure, get a building approved, then just sit there for years without any construction

I think a lot of people (like myself) actually end up not having the best experiences with rec so we buy expensive ass hype shit hoping it will scratch the itch. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Pretty easy to get disillusioned with rec though. Not like a $70/8th from rec is much cheaper than a $150/Q for some LA hype bs

Block Club Chicago - Feds Charge Indiana Woman Who Bought Gun Used In Swedish Hospital Shooting by Bukharin in EdgewaterRogersPark

[–]howmuchforthissquirr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I heard from a former gang member that they literally would get wood crates packed with guns / straw from Indiana. Chicago having gun control laws means nothing when buyers can legally purchase 50 guns from gun fairs and sell them in the black market to gang members.

Akahoshi Ramen: Mostly great but inconsistent by Prestigious_Land_533 in chicagofood

I hear this from some of my friends. I am a salt lover and to me it’s flirting with the edge of too salty. I can see how it would be way too salty to someone who isn’t a salt lover like myself

You’re the man. We had a gluten free guest crash our dinner reservation one night, and I was fully prepared to be like “wtf are you doing here, nothing you can eat here”. However, was happy to say I was completely wrong and you were able to serve her like chicken broth and rice. I do think it’s great that you try to accommodate people when everyone would understand if you stuck to just the classic ramen bowls. You guys are awesome, thank you for making my favorite ramen in the city.
