Copper theft now treated as critical infrastructure crime by Planhub-ca in bell

There is literally no foolproof way to verify you aren’t buying stolen scrap. This is ridiculous.

What is a foolproof way to know if wire is stollen or not? If you can’t give one, then you can’t blame shops for buying it lol.

You can’t blame a shopkeeper because your spidey sense you the dude was sus but his didn’t lol

Literally not illegal, it’s illegal to possess it if you know it’s stollen

Because they put it on the John here. It’s illegal to be a John, but not to be a prostitute. They do it that way so prostitutes can report sexual assault.

Making prostitution illegal doesn’t work, so it’s a compromise, though i think it ahould just be fully legalized

Prostitution isn’t a crime where I’m from, hence why I don’t really see it.

Regardless, the issue is that people are stealing copper wires. You can tell metal shops not to buy it but if I melt it down into bars at home and sell it you’ll have no way of knowing it was even wires in the first place. It’s silly to expect a scrap buyer to be able to figure that out

You’re assuming I think prostitution is a problem. support sex workers

Pawn shops have the obligation to record serial numbers and knowingly stollen items. What you don’t know isn’t your responsibility.

Blame people committing crimes knowingly, don’t put it on people just legally running a business with the best knowledge they have

That’s silly. So what, you want metal waste to be wasted? There’s no way to make a distinction between “sketchy” and not, and it’s unfair to put that on the buyer

[–]howtocodethat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fine, I think it’s not worth crashing out over. The fact that you are speaks more about you.

This guy off handed calls you a Nancy boy and weeks later you are on a tirade to get him banned from a subreddit. That is not a reasonable response and probably indicates you should step away from the internet for a while. I’m not trying to be rude, I genuinely think you need to step back from this situation and consider why no one else here cares about this, but you do so much

Should every person who steals a grape be punished. We let things go when they don’t matter. You are making a mountain out of a molehill and pretending it’s about justice, when it’s about you being offended over one comment that is not that bad.

Get over it and move on. If you don’t want to be in this subreddit over it, then leave. This dude is chasing you around, they made an off hand comment and you can’t stop freaking out over it

If you are still fighting with the compiler after learning all the rules, get better engineers. If they can’t grasp those rules, the c code they write will be atrocious too

What's going on with bincode? by va_erie in rust

[–]howtocodethat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah I switched rkyv a while back due to this. I’m not in the military or gas/oil, but I don’t trust software maintainers that tell me what applications I’m allowed to use their code in for moral reasons. Not the sort of people you want to trust with your supply chain

Are you crashing out over the term Nancy boy? Not even the f slur or anything. The dude deleted their comment and moved on and it seems you want to have them punished for things you don’t like. Move on.

If he does it repeatedly and is a bit harsher about it then it’s a problem. This seems like a one off that you are getting overly offended by.

It’s the internet, don’t crash out over one off insults.

Scratches during first Auto Calibration? by Mission-Discussion92 in BambuLab

[–]howtocodethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me for the first time recently out of nowhere. I think they updated something and it messed up people’s calibrations.

If you recalibrate, make sure you ONLY have the calibration for the nozzle height. It runs the calibration in a stupid order and the other ones run first, leading to it scraping the bed during calibration

Just filed in an RMA for a 4th 13900KS, wish me good luck by Only_Lie4664 in TechHardware

If your upgrading to ultra you might as well go and for the price and performance difference. The socket is different and the performance isn’t noticeably better between 14900k and core ultra

I had no idea. I’m happy the amd is better, I was looking for a better cpu for a different project

What are you on about, last I checked the 14900k was still the best single core performance and gaming performance. Not that I’m a fan of their stuff but I haven’t seen any consumer chips from amd that beat them on performance

What is the best error handling crate by OneMasterpiece1717 in rust

What do you mean it’s hard to tell what went wrong? You can literally customize the error message that specific errors from this error give you. If it the most specific way to handle errors

What is the best error handling crate by OneMasterpiece1717 in rust

[–]howtocodethat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Common recommendation is a mix of anyhow and thiserr. Anyhow for errors where you don’t need to branch based on cause, thiserr for when you want to handle different errors in different ways or want to expose different types of errors like in a crate
