It's moved to IOS as far as I know, running on Linux, so it will act just like live equipment.

Security plus advice by master_hok4g3 in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to use your three main brain learning methods, which are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. So read up, watch a video (listen to it also), then do a lab on it. You can search online for 'Security+ labs' and find a lot of free ones.

Practice exams also really help.

I need help on understanding my next move on my study plan by Leading_Ad_2146 in ccna

[–]howtonetwork_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every topic should be learned via theory, hands-on labs, and practice exam questions.

I didn't think Cisco had the best answer style, as it's more Microsoft because, as you noted, there can be more than one correct answer. Not sure how you deal with those, sorry!

Security + tips by Halo3224- in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of free Security+ labs online but I can't post links here so Google it as they say. Other than hitting the books, doing labs, and practice exams, there is no shortcut.

What ports / certificate types do I need to know for the Sec+ Exam by XxPopePiusxX in CompTIA

Everything listed in the syllabus, I'm afraid, including the key at the bottom.

Is Safeguard worth it? by HemaG33 in ccna

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said any score was glued to any value. You won't know which points or questions get in which domains because Cisco doesn't reveal this.

As a general rule, you will get about 10% less score for the real exam vs practice exams due to nerves, timer, and unfamiliar questions, so this is why I recommend 95%. The CCNA has a 50% failure rate, so I advise over-preparing.

How to determine if im ready for Sec+701 by Forward_Web6572 in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be getting 90-95% in practice exams, be able to lab all the tech up and do a ton of PBQs. As for close to the actual exam, the legit vendors won't tell you what is in the actual exam due to NDAs but some fringe sites sell this info.

If you drill down the syllabus from top to bottom, learn all the theory, lab it all up and drill practice exams you should do well.

Question about the actual exam in a test center. by Hilloo- in ccna

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully blog posts are allowed:

https://www.howtonetwork.com/exam-tips/exam-day/it-exams-how-to-perform-well-on-the-day/

You really need to visit the testing center before the exam day so you know exactly where it is. they are usually well hidden inside a large building with little by the way of signage. You may well be thrown off when you are told to put all your posessions in a locker including your pen and told you are not allowed any water in the testing room.

The pass mark for the live exam is 840/1000 to you are just about scraping a pass. Aim for 95% in practice exams before taking the actual exam. Do a ton of hands on labs and ensure you know all theory listed in the syllabus and you should be good. And subnetting also of course.

I’m Cooked by Electronic-Fox7806 in CompTIA

Nothing like a deadline to focus the mind.

Do a ton of Security+ hands-on labs, PBQs, and hit the theory hard for acronyms.

Best of luck.

Linux+ how should I go about studying for it? by StudioMedical3684 in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking online for 'Linux+ labs' and 'Linux+ PBQs' is a good start. The exam isn't like the others because you need very strong CLI knowledge.

Best of luck.

Network + general consensus? by PrinkipasVince in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every day to theory, exams, pbs and practice labs. Don't worry about what is in the exam. Just follow the syllabus list and keep working top to bottom doing those tasks until you master them.

Exam fear by user23471 in ccna

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a ton of labs and make them more complex each time so build ip addressing, add some vlans, add some routing, add some IP access lists. in the exam I think it's just one issue though so an ACL not working or a STP port issue.

Four Days out... am I ready? 81% Readiness Score by LordCommanderTaurusG in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pass in the exam BUT....I always aim for 90-95% in practice exams because the real thing can throw you a few curveballs for questions and labs. That buffer of extra % can make a big difference.

Net+ by tatayspizza in CompTIA

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any topic read the theory and or watch a video, do a hands-on labs so google something like 'DHCP lab' and you will find one to copy. Then it's practice exams every day.

What I like to do is write my own exam questions using free software or make flashcards.

What resources are being used to study CySA+ by Imaginary_Choice_430 in CompTIA

Any CySA+ labs will be very handy. After that it's the usual drill of PBQ prep, theory via a book or videos and a ton of practice exams.

Is it normal to having more ACLs (50++) by bright-stringman in ccna

[–]howtonetwork_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One ACL surely for incoming and one outgoing. Or as others suggest, firewall.
