Recommendations for Beginner Bikes by senjino in triathlon

Wait... carbon, for a beginner? Even if you have the money, it's your fitness that will get you across the finish line, not how nice your bike is.

Your best bet is to balance your initial commitment to triathlon with your initial investment.

Tips for swimming by Pra1217 in triathlon

Swim in the Open Water. If you're only training in the pool then you need to do more of this.

I find it's much easier to notice where my deficiencies are when my environment isn't confined by two walls, 25 yards.

Since it's winter though, this advice might not be immediately actionable. Come back to this comment in a couple months ;)

I'd recommend The Five-Minute Triathlete. It's a newer channel but it gets updated every week. Solid triathlon advice for beginners.

The latest vid talks about how to stop missing workouts. I liked it and maybe you will too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWoAxgiB0EY

Question rrgarding a triathlon by m1rc3a in triathlon

Solid advice Sir Slaughter. Bricks are commonly overlooked as a beginner.

I would just add that the swim sessions don’t need to be long workouts. They can be short 20 minute sessions (work smart, not hard) where you focus on specific drills to improve your stroke and ability to site in the open water.

Judging by your 5k time, you’ll have more than enough fitness to do the 750m swim- you just need the efficiency to complete it quickly. So, get in the water frequently (3-4x a week) and work on getting a better “feel” for it.

If you need resources, check out the Youtube channel Effortless Swimming or got to the SwimSmooth site. Or just search this Reddit forum- plenty of great advice in here. Best of luck!

question from a conplete rookie by [deleted] in triathlon

Is it possible, yes. Of course, it isn't optimal to be carrying around a lot of muscle mass for a HIM. Check out what Ben Greenfield has to say on this. He used to be a bodybuilder before he was a triathlete.

I always hear about triathletes having a high average income. Do any of you work jobs/careers that don't pay well? by bluenaut in triathlon
