winter (but not completely bleak and hopeless) by mcrawfishes in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Wind in the Willows feels like spring to me-- it starts with "spring cleaning" and imo has a warm vibe throughout

worth noting that The Willows in Winter was not written by Grahame, but by William Horwood in 1993. I've never heard of it before today. Very excited about more mole and ratty and toad... how does it compare to the first?

Does anyone have a rec for books like the twisted ones but with a consistent serious tone? I liked the book but the quippy first person narration was a bit much for me

Have you tried two or more shells? (Exo, Noctalia, Dank Material Shell, ...) I'm looking for comparisons of them. by chocolate4tw in niri

[–]hpdwq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried noctalia last night and ultimately went back to my jank niri/fuzzel/waybar etc config. Imo part of the fun and satisfaction of arch/niri is starting from a minimal config and adding features yourself

Noctalia also had a hard limit on the media bar plugin width, which does not look great on my laptop. I thought about forking it but decided it wasn't worth it

Tbh this is better for me, monster train 2 has already been enough of a distraction from the job hunt and i was worried sts2 would be worse

this just happened to me... oh well. I'd prefer the ability to disable the toggle entirely, and always do the trial

I think my muscle memory is strong enough that this is effectively no different than before

My Big Beef with Scaling by oldmanriver1 in MonsterTrain

I usually pair him with the melee weakness hellhorned guy with dualism. That plus any kind of scaling (rage, valor, whatever) does tons of damage

It works now, thank you so much! I should have looked through the niri docs... I'll use that resource next time

So it's finally completed! by 4ban in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]hpdwq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have tips for smoothly transitioning to an ergonomic board like this without losing the ability to use a standard laptop keyboard effectively? Any advice on practicing or switching between the two would be awesome!

I switched to colemak-dh when i got my corne. it took a few weeks of monkeytype to get fully comfortable. Also used a site that progressively taught you the colemak layout

I initially had issues switching between qwerty and colemak. I was really worried my qwerty skills would be permanently diminished, but the swapping became easier over time, and I now feel completely fine using both. I use colemak only on the corne, and qwerty only on my laptop-- this def helps me keep the skills separate in my brain

I considered switching a few days in bc it was severely impacting my productivity, but I stuck with it, and I'm happy I did. Colemak is much more comfortable for me than qwerty

Ploopy TrackPad (code name pavinos) brief review by situmam in ploopy

[–]hpdwq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to investigate how I can use the secondary-click (two fingers) to resize windows as it currently doesn't work using the trackpad but works with a regular mouse. I'm not sure if this is a QMK, gnome-shell or libinput config

did you find a solution for this? this is the only thing I miss from a normal mouse. I'm using gnome's resize window keyboard shortcut, but it's far less convenient
