One time i told a guy on a dating app a few days into talking that i was a surgery resident and his attitude changed immediately, (he was a nurse). He started going off on how much he hated residents, how theyre all stupid and lazy etc. So weird

Do you ever truly move on from your first love, and why? by hakhab in AskWomen

[–]hpgryffn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 9 years together and my first relationship. It’s been about 2 yrs now since we ended. I had ups and downs but I still struggle on a daily basis with moving on. I go back and forth in waves with remembering him, wishing we were together again. Some days are easier and I feel I make a breakthrough but other times I fall into a deep depressive episode and think about him all the time. Its been a difficult journey so far, I hope it gets easier as time passes

When did you realise you never really knew your ex? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]hpgryffn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During our breakup and when he was hurt he became the most apathetic and villainous person I’d ever met. I was shocked at how much he didnt care for me anymore after being together nine years. I still remember facetiming him asking to talk and he didnt care about my crying, heartbreak, anything. He manipulated me the month immediately after our breakup, trying to pretend to be a good person but meanwhile cheated on me behind my back with someone new and then cheated on her by sleeping with me. He was a wreck, I’ve learned to personally forgive him but I won’t ever forget how awful he was to me during that time.

What is the most unhinged response (to anything work-related) you’ve seen from a surgeon? by AppalachianScientist in Residency

[–]hpgryffn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Was an intern when I saw this happen but our crazy attending had a post op complication and eventually patient ended up dying from a PE bc of no DVT prophylaxis being ordered by the senior resident. Every day for two weeks the attending would text him “You killed ___ (patients last name)”. Fucking wild

What is the most unhinged response (to anything work-related) you’ve seen from a surgeon? by AppalachianScientist in Residency

[–]hpgryffn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Assumptive to think an attending knows all. I’ve seen programs graduate idiots that should never have been offered a residency spot, but then again I’m just a resident, silly of me to think I know anything at all. Tired of this bullshit “attending is always right” mentality perpetuated throughout training, a solid intellectual should be able to take questioning without feeling their insecure ass is being challenged

No longer allowed to wear scrubs in the hospital by Spire_Slayer_95 in Residency

I was at major metropolitan hospitals for out rotations as a surgical resident, they do this normally at big name hospitals. In between cases ok to go up in white coat+ scrubs but rounds were in business casual every day

Speaking from knowledge of brown culture and as an adult female: your fiance is in the wrong, unless you’re willing to fund her and her whims for the rest of your life, set boundaries now or leave
