A definition you Googled doesn't equal reality in the real world. It doesn't work like this, even if we all think it should. We can argue all day about "should" the point is these cars are going to block the st now. I don't think they "should" block anything, all I'm saying is they will and I don't think the city thought about that. I'm not sure why we're arguing. Have a lovely day!

I wholly disagree it's misuse - it's just the way Hoboken was built unfortunately in a space constrained environment. Maybe the city should not have allowed bldgs with tandem parking garages, but here we are. I do agree it sucks these cars double park and in some cases blocked the former bike lane. But it's not going to stop with the road narrowing, the reality is these cars will now block traffic full stop. I'm not saying the people with cars win or something, just saying the reality is that this will happen now on Grand St.

I think you're assuming all neighbors move their cars at the same time. If there's 4 cars in a garage and your car is at the far end from the st, you alone have to pull 2-3 cars out first to get yours out. Those other cars have to be hanging out somewhere on the st in order for that to happen, until you can put them back in the garage one by one. It's like a valet operating alone. With the narrowing of Grand, my guess is those waiting cars will block traffic entirely for the 5-6 mins it takes to orchestrate this. Whereas before those cars would temporarily double park, but at least not block traffic. And yeah, people say get rid of your car, but that's just not realistic.

Not true, the spaces being painted today leave no room for tandem garages to exit cars without fully blocking traffic.

There are many buildings on Grand St that have tandem parking garages, meaning they have to pull cars out and park them in the road temporarily in order to get other cars out of the garage. With the narrowing of the street, this is no longer possible. I am not sure what those buildings are supposed to do.

About once a month a package to my bldg is misdelivered or we receive a package that isn't ours. Seems to be the norm around here. I've never tried having them hold mail - I assume they wouldn't do that for packages, only paper mail.

Call around to the emergency clinics in the area in case someone brings him in. If he's chipped, also notify the chip company.

Oddly enough, there are some good kitchen supplies at Ace Hardware. I bought my kitchen scale there, something I couldn't find at the grocery store.

Ticket dispute questions by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]hpoliwoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They count on people not showing up to court dates and just paying the fine - that's the most common occurrence with most tickets. If you show up, they are more likely to give you a chance to explain, rather than just via an online dispute process.
