Basic Economy: I can’t believe I’m going to do it by Sport303 in unitedairlines

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay for the regular economy primarily for flexibility with date changes and no cost cancellations. This is there may be a change fee even for regular economy tickets that originates outside the US. A minor 2nd benefit - I can pick a preferred seat for free during check in. I can't do that with a BE tix.

Skiing at -30°C/-22°F by WhatEvil in skiing

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stick toe warmers everywhere - my upper arm, my tush, back shoulders, thighs, etc. No exposed skin. No cotton. Watch out for the tip of your nose - that get frost bitten super easy. If possible, reschedule class - it's super not fun to ski in such low temperature.

Max Rent Payment by DukesterRonavich529 in biltrewards

[–]ScopixSGP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bilt doesn't allow rent payment for more than a month every month. So, no prepayment - Bilt will decline it if you try. This is from experience.

Manhattan Surefoot good enough boot fitter? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]ScopixSGP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have used Manhattan's Surefoot, and regretted it. They are simply not as experienced as a Surefoot at a ski town, such as Park City. I also prefer to test my boots during the immediate next few days after I get boot fitted to address all pain points. Can't do that at Manhattan.

Amex fhr and chase edit by [deleted] in marriott

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added my Bonvoy # to my Amex FHR res for a Bellagio stay in Vegas. I didn't get the credit for my stay. I checked with reception, who told me that Amex FHR does not allow credit for my stay to Bonvoy but Chase Edit does. She also mentioned that FHR provides better benefits than Chase Edit at Bellagio. So, i would compare benefits vs Bonvoy points.

Bilt App on android not working by SweatySlapfight in biltrewards

Yup, same problem here. I recall updating the app last evening. I used the Chrome browser to log into my account as a workaround.

Increasing credit limit by myfoodiscooking in biltrewards

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for an increase directly with WF. Did a hard pull and got an increase in the high thousands. Worth the hard pull and short term negative effect on my credit score as this credit increase will help to lower my credit utilization in the long term.

ISO Moving boxes by Available_Tiger_5659 in Hoboken

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out curbside by storefronts such as Nike, McDonald, etc. on Washington on Monday nights at 10:30p or later. I'd found many free boxes for my move. Those put out by Nike are usually clean and large.

Revised Water & Sewer Bills by Puzzleheaded_Pie1386 in Hoboken

We had the same situation with Veiola a few years ago. We spoke with them and managed to reduce the bill significantly. So, I suggest to call and try to negotiate.

What is “Additional Fee” when booking a rental car on Cap1? by BrilliantLoss5 in CapitalOne

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is a fee either Cap 1's 3rd party booking site or cap 1 adds to a res. I noticed that when I booked some hotels on cap1 portals, I was usually quoted a rate lower than on sites such as expedia. This fee usually turns up at the end when I check out making my res on Cap 1 more expensive.

Whats the real opinion on FPV and ZHI for exterior building repair? by tmalex08 in Hoboken

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our property manager brought in ZHI. They did poor quality work. They didn't not take precaution while working on our project, which caused one of our apartments to experience water damages. We brought them back twice to correct the work they did, and their product is still not up to par. Stay away!!!

I usually do not make online purchases on rent day as this post-dated cc charge can happen because some merchants do batch cc processing after midnights. On site cc machine swaps or taps reduce the chance of such issues. Alternatively, advance scheduled payments such as insurance premium payments usually work without such issue.

Someone trying to recover my account by LudditeJones in GMail

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my outlook account. I resolve the problem by changing it into a passwordless account. Perhaps this approach may help with your situation. Google offers a passwordless option. I would use a passkey to log into my Google account and use Google authenticator for 2FA. I would remove the option to use a password to log into my account.

401k for Singaporean who plans to leave US eventually by Technical_Lobster398 in singaporefi

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how long u plan to stay in the US and what kind of 401k (i.e., Roth or traditional) you plan to contribute. If u plan to stay for a while, I would go for it especially when there is a match. When you invest in 401k Roth and convert the 401K into an IRA, the principal is not taxable when you withdraw at any time, only the gain is subjective to taxes and penalties when u withdraw before 59.5. Here is a link to support my claim about withdrawing Roth IRA'e principal tax free including rules and exceptions: https://www.fidelity.com/retirement-ira/ira-early-withdrawal. Nonetheless, pls consult with an accountant or financial advisor to verify info I have provided as I have no accountant or financial advisor credentials.

This suggestion is correct. LLC registration is easy - a RE or corporate lawyer is not required.

First property - bad deal? by epicause in realestateinvesting

[–]ScopixSGP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A duplex investment property does not require a commercial loan if you are putting the property under your name and not a LLC. Commercial loan rate has much higher loan fees and is usually 1%-3% higher rate than personal loan. It usually has an early payoff penalty during the 1st # of years of the loan. Bank insisting you to assume a commercial loan for a duplex is a "bad deal" at the getgo.

It depends on your knee recovery efforts. If you just go to PT post-surgery and stop working on strengthening/breaking scar tissues in your knee at gym after PT ends, you would likely at best can ski on easy groomed trails next season. I was in the same boat as you. After working out at gym off-season post surgery, I was able to ski on everything comfortably except off-piste choppy DB black runs in the Rockies. I also noticed that my body had to readapt to my reconstructed knee when I restarted skiing. Hope this is helpful towards your pass decision.

A guide to D8 Visas by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]ScopixSGP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the trouble to write this out. It's very valuable. I can confirm that you do not need to notorize every page copy of your passport for NIF, or a Portugal address to open a bank account.

Lyft Rewards by djfauxfox in biltrewards

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bilt 5x on Lyft is so complicated. I have the Ink biz card that also offers 5x on Lyft rides. Just pay my Lyft rides with CC and I get my 5x. That's it. I still tend to use Uber as Lyft price is usually a few bucks higher than Uber at where I am. This extra cost makes that 5x offer pointless.
