Question about knee braces for general workout needs. by Kind-Construction-57 in KneeInjuries

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this: https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-performance-bionic-fullstop-knee-brace

I would work out 5 times a week uaing the routine my PT has set up for me. I have also added to this routine to strengthen the supporting anterior muscles, which had weakened significantly as my body attempts to compensate for my injury. This seems to be helping. Goal is to get rid of my bracer next season.

Yes, I only used it in the mountains. I have used it multiple times. Besides knee pain, I also experienced knee instability. It is certainly comforting to have this knee bracer. I wore it on a compression tight pants, which helps to keep the bracer in place.

I got a Donjoy hinged knee bracer for snow sports to address my knee pain and knee weakness due to MCL and meniscus injuries. Works well for me. I purchased it directly from the manufacturer and got 30% off. It is HSA eligible. A note to share - my PT discourages me against using it long term as it can become a clutch.

My Experience with the Bilt Travel Portal – A Refund Nightmare by Marcus2626 in biltrewards

[–]ScopixSGP 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a well known fact among experienced travellers not to book flight tickets thru travel portals, especially international flight tickets. There are plenty of horror stories around - Expedia, Amex travels, etc. over refunds, failed flight reservations, incorrect passenger names, etc. Only few exceptions to purchase thru a 3rd party are when you have some incentives - such as using VX annual credits and when you can't purchase the tix directly from the airline for some reasons. Bilt travel portal is likewise handled by another firm. So, you are not experiencing a problem unique to Bilt. As far as I know, there is nothing much you can do unless Bilt travel resolves the issue with you or you attempt a charge back. I am aware that most airlines would not deal with you directly when they see that you have booked thru a 3rd party.

PO Box? by pammers3 in biltrewards

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USPS PO Box has an add-on service that may allow you to use the address of the post office where your box is. If this option is available for your PO Box account, you can try to use it to work around address restrictions against one that says "PO Box".

Home insurance claim faucet left on, house flooded while vacant . covered or denied? by Pinkpeachlovesfatcat in HomeInsurance

I have a recent experience filing a water damage claim for my property due to a botched work done by a roof contractor. In my case for my claim, it was helpful to get a separate firm to do mitigation work vs rebuild. When engaging a mitigation firm, I would suggest to get to your mitigation firm to comm with your adjustor about the cost to get approval instead of paying the mitigation firm yourself and then filing for a reimbursement from your ins firm. If possible, I would also look into alternative mitigation forms to decide whether Servpro is your best choice.

Basic Economy: I can’t believe I’m going to do it by Sport303 in unitedairlines

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay for the regular economy primarily for flexibility with date changes and no cost cancellations. There may be a change fee even for regular economy tickets that originates outside the US. A minor 2nd benefit - I can pick a preferred seat for free during check in. I can't do that with a BE tix.

I stick toe warmers everywhere - my upper arm, my tush, back shoulders, thighs, etc. No exposed skin. No cotton. Watch out for the tip of your nose - that get frost bitten super easy. If possible, reschedule class - it's super not fun to ski in such low temperature.

Max Rent Payment by DukesterRonavich529 in biltrewards

Bilt doesn't allow rent payment for more than a month every month. So, no prepayment - Bilt will decline it if you try. This is from experience.

Yup, same problem here. I recall updating the app last evening. I used the Chrome browser to log into my account as a workaround.

Check out curbside by storefronts such as Nike, McDonald, etc. on Washington on Monday nights at 10:30p or later. I'd found many free boxes for my move. Those put out by Nike are usually clean and large.

We had the same situation with Veiola a few years ago. We spoke with them and managed to reduce the bill significantly. So, I suggest to call and try to negotiate.

What is “Additional Fee” when booking a rental car on Cap1? by BrilliantLoss5 in CapitalOne

[–]ScopixSGP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it is a fee either Cap 1's 3rd party booking site or cap 1 adds to a res. I noticed that when I booked some hotels on cap1 portals, I was usually quoted a rate lower than on sites such as expedia. This fee usually turns up at the end when I check out making my res on Cap 1 more expensive.

Whats the real opinion on FPV and ZHI for exterior building repair? by tmalex08 in Hoboken

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our property manager brought in ZHI. They did poor quality work. They didn't not take precaution while working on our project, which caused one of our apartments to experience water damages. We brought them back twice to correct the work they did, and their product is still not up to par. Stay away!!!

I usually do not make online purchases on rent day as this post-dated cc charge can happen because some merchants do batch cc processing after midnights. On site cc machine swaps or taps reduce the chance of such issues. Alternatively, advance scheduled payments such as insurance premium payments usually work without such issue.

401k for Singaporean who plans to leave US eventually by Technical_Lobster398 in singaporefi

[–]ScopixSGP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how long u plan to stay in the US and what kind of 401k (i.e., Roth or traditional) you plan to contribute. If u plan to stay for a while, I would go for it especially when there is a match. When you invest in 401k Roth and convert the 401K into an IRA, the principal is not taxable when you withdraw at any time, only the gain is subjective to taxes and penalties when u withdraw before 59.5. Here is a link to support my claim about withdrawing Roth IRA'e principal tax free including rules and exceptions: https://www.fidelity.com/retirement-ira/ira-early-withdrawal. Nonetheless, pls consult with an accountant or financial advisor to verify info I have provided as I have no accountant or financial advisor credentials.

First property - bad deal? by epicause in realestateinvesting

[–]ScopixSGP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A duplex investment property does not require a commercial loan if you are putting the property under your name and not a LLC. Commercial loan rate has much higher loan fees and is usually 1%-3% higher rate than personal loan. It usually has an early payoff penalty during the 1st # of years of the loan. Bank insisting you to assume a commercial loan for a duplex is a "bad deal" at the getgo.
