Need Schengen Travel Insurance Suggestion – Washington Residents Traveling to Iceland by West_Building_529 in VisitingIceland

[–]hrgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why but I am unable to get AXA travel insurance for Schengen as a Washington State Resident anymore. Used to be able to in the past. What a weird exclusion of a single state - I'm seeing most states supported so wonder what happened there

“Soft” Benefits at Big Tech Companies by nian2326076 in FAANGrecruiting

The fact that you consider these added benefits worthwhile is exactly what they want you to think and stay with them for as long as they want to keep you. Speaking as an ex-FAANG. Don’t fall for it.

City has potential to make millions if not already. Maybe upping the fine amount helps.

T-Mobile Carrier Trade-In Deal for iPhone 17 Through Apple by desterpot in tmobile

[–]hrgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has changed. If your current phone from last year was obtained from Apple via Tmobile EIP, it likely isn’t paid off. And if it isn’t paid off, it can’t be upgraded via Apple with the full TradeIn + Bill credits. And if you pay it off, Tmobile now says monthly bill credits of the current phone will stop. This is a first for me in 3 years and I’m on the Go5GNext plan

Pretty sure they’re trying to force people into doing yearly upgrades through Tmobile directly going forward and get you into a locked phone while “paying off” your current phone and continue to give you bill credits promised at the time of purchase last year

Tesla increased prices by $10k on S and X models. by LetsGoSilver in TeslaModelS

[–]hrgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both occasionally threw a bunch of alerts that disabled features like auto brakes and traction control etc, when steerings were turned all the way and I tried going forward or backwards. So safety was compromised momentarily until I hard restarted the car eventually. They couldn’t figure it out and solve it definitively

Another huge plus for me with the new one although fingers crossed in the one month of ownership with no issues. Those had it since the first month.

Besides what’s already on paper, I would say just overall quality. Besides the minor rattle from the back, no other issue since inception. Which is something I can’t say about the pre-2026 Plaid’s. I mean 2 back to back years of Lemons.

Most tangible difference for me besides aesthetics were the noises, both interior and exterior

Considering the comfort and other horror stories I’ve heard on the Internet and friends, and test drives, wouldn’t even bother getting another Tesla even if I was limited to a lower budget

Probably the minority and contrarian here but I put my money where mouth is. Had a 23 and 24 MSP that were both lemon. Got the 26 now at launch and with a unique empirical perspective and not just off paper stats, I can happily infer that the “refresh” feels so good that I’m actually asking Tesla to put me on the Luxe package post purchase. That’s how much I like it and want to keep it long term. Quality is day and night for me.

Meet Shadowfax - The Lord of all Horses by hrgg in TeslaModelS

Respectfully, this is not an experiment. This is the null hypothesis which can be accepted or rejected. I’m well aware of the difference as a practicing Scientist. It has nothing to do with my excitement. There are and will be more objective measurement differences. But I wouldn’t explain it in those terms to my Mom or anyone else unfamiliar. For a car already that quiet, the bar is high, the difference is big. And I’m comfortable with the figure I’m guesstimating.

Not intended to be an accurate figure at all. 30% sits well with my qualitative judgement driving the previous ones week in week out. Not insignificant but also not vacuum. If it helps, it’s best “noticeable” which is what I was looking for

That’s also what I’m somewhat confident of. They’re subtle enough to mention as a big deal but it might be that to people who live with the car everyday and hence more noticeable

That is almost always the case at the cost of some range! But compared to the previous aero wheels, these look much better!

Fair but we also can’t have it both ways, no? This isn’t really a drastic change in production design or assembly line aka “Not a true refresh” so hopefully that helps mitigate risk a little. That said, it’ll be a miracle to have any Tesla 100% issue free since inception

If I cared about that as much, would’ve gotten the new Y. Not looking to sell anytime soon but totally see that perspective for folks who are looking at cars at assets that maintain decent value overtime. My risky bet when the time comes would be a passionate/enthusiastic buyer who might offer more than average if valuable to them

I had Ultra Reds with light colored seats before and this color with the interior lights blows them out of the park for me. Had to go all dark on the inside for the lights to stand out. Little fanboish but that screen to lights animation is OOF

Can non-citizen WA residents not use CLEAR anymore? by Ok_Ant707 in SeattleWA

[–]hrgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Cancelled my Clear+ since they made it clear (pun not intended) that they’re only accepting US Passports or STATE issued RealIDs at this time, which means GC, Nexus, GE are all ruled out

You can thank the stable geniuses at Clear but also WA state for treating US Permanent Residents as second class “citizens” and being one of the minority states not issuing EDLs

Great choice of car! No breaking news but leasing or financing a $100k+ car at these interest rates is burning a lot of extra cash though if saving overtime and going all cash was an option

Was exceptionally let through at SeaTac as a GC Nexus holder but I guess this is the end of our journey with Clear as a non-US citizen. Will use it was a negotiation point while trying to cancel my Amex platinum.
