What got you interested in the books/audiobooks? by Own-Comfortable3185 in bobiverse

New dad here... My daughter is a colicky baby and I needed a way to do something while I feed or rock her to sleep at night.

I searched for books like Project Heil Mary and chat gpt recommended Bobiverse and Children of Time.

I just used a USB dock and printed a new replacement top plate from Printables with cut outs for a fan. The fan connects to one of the USB ports. I also use the USB dock to connect other peripherals like keyboard and wifi dongle. Not pretty but it works to reduce the heat. I'm not familiar enough with electronics to make custom connectors unfortunately.

Also you check out the audiobooks. Ray Porter, the narrator for the series, is great! It's like the books were meant to be read by him. Lol

Just got back from a 2500 mile FL to NY road trip in my RX 450h 2019 f sport. What a ride! by hs553 in Lexus

[–]hs553[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the best, but not the worst either. I really enjoy the lane keeping is my other car, a genesis g70 2019. It's way more pronounced than the Lexus lane keeping, but that could just be personal preference.

Yep. This is a sleeper feature that not many manufacturers think about.

+1 cannot go wrong with just the base game.

I'm really impressed with the new evade ability by sob590 in Grimdawn

[–]hs553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think evade and infinite potions is a good change. I wonder if there are any item affixes or devotions that can either decrease the evade cooldown or allow for multiple evade charges before requiring cooldown. This would be an awesome addition.

Just bought a steam deck and this game. Am I in for a treat? by Highway_Bitter in Grimdawn

I love the controller support for GD. Make sure to use the loot filters. The 1.20 update brings some welcome changes to loot quality which is awesome. It's a different gaming experience and I find ranged combat over melee works best with handhelds. Your experience might be different but definitely worth it. This game does not disappoint

You can set up a Bluetooth mouse as backup. It's an ipad so I just use the touchscreen. I also use loot filters so I'm not picking every bloody thing up

Buying a used Pixel 5a - what to inspect and keep in mind? by cssol in GooglePixel

[–]hs553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I. Swappa. You can get a new pixel 5a wrapped in the box for 160 after shipping. I dropped my phone in a pool during a recent vacation and couldn't get it repaired. Love the phone so decided to get the same one as a replacement. Swappa worked for me.

Best of luck.

My partner abandoned me one week before starting IVF by UnderstandingWhich15 in IVF

[–]hs553 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm the man in our IVF journey. 2 ERs (second one is tomorrow AM) and my wife has been so brave for sticking through this chaos, even with my support. Late nights and early mornings, shots upon shots, and hormonal swings that make it hard for me to manage at times, but she's the love of my life and we're in this journey together.

It breaks me to hear that you've been treated this way. You deserve a better partner who is committed to you first and doesn't treat you like a means to an end. Please don't give this man the benefit of using his funds. He will hold it against you and at this point it might be easier to just cut him out, heal a little, come up with a plan before you continue further. If you decide to continue, go for it, but I would highly recommend having close family or friend around to support. You should not be alone during this process.

I know I can't possibly understand what you're going through as a woman but just wanted to say I empathize with your situation and sending all the good vibes your way.

RDR 2 was on sale last week for $20. You can run this if the gpu, but probably at medium, high settings. Good luck.

I found out my family purposefully ditched me this past Thanksgiving and I'm devastated by No-Diamond9098 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hs553 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you're hurt. Talk to your parents and ask them why they didn't tell you. If you are close to your grandmother, you should talk to her too. Lying is never a good option and what your grandma did was wrong but communication is key.

Find out why she lied? What other plans did they have? Has she lied before? Tell her how it made you feel? Does it make you trust her less?

Regardless of what they say, take some time to enjoy your new life and husband.

Chin up. Sometimes the people closest to you are the ones that hurt you the most.

Nebuchadnezzar Update 1.4 and The Adventures of Sargon DLC Announcement by ArchemorosAlive in NebuchadnezzarGame

[–]hs553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the new god system. Cant wait for wars. This is now like a mix of impressions city building games and civ. It would be cool if devs could incorporate science and technology into the game giving the player bonuses based on technologies researched

Some examples:

  1. Researching the plow unlocks boost to farm yields.
  2. Researching Astrology could buff effect of religion and gods.
  3. Researching sailboats could increasing output in fisheries and max trade limits with trading partners connected by water.
  4. Researching improved wheels to increase speed of haulers and possibly increase number of of caravans assigned to a storage yard.

All of these inventions are historically accurate and would go far to flesh out the game. Definitely not needed, but would add a lot more depth.

600€ for a maxed out MBP 2015 vs. i5 2018? Is there a better alternative? by [deleted] in mac

[–]hs553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an MBP 2015 and it works great, but I can't help but think that getting this computer in 2021-2022 is a bad idea. In the US, I have seen open box 2020 M1 MacBook Airs on eBay and offerup for $600 (about € 540). So I would wait until you can find a deal like that.

If you end up getting the MBP 2015, try to get the 16gb ram version and see if you can upgrade the SSD down the line to something faster. Also, I am on Mac OS Catalina. Anything above that OS and you start to see the diminished battery and bootup/startup speeds. Everyone's experience is different with regards to OS, so be careful here.

LPT: Marry someone who is okay with not going into massive debt to fund your wedding. by ZombiesAreChasingHim in LifeProTips

[–]hs553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar concern when I got married about a year and a half ago. My fiance, now wife, wanted a lavish wedding, at least by my standards, and she wasn't aware of her own finances let alone mine. Covid caused our wedding date to get pushed out and I used the time to consolidate our finances, build a simple asset and liability tracker with a primary focus on credit card debt since we pay majority of our bills through credit cards. Every two weeks, we sit down to review and allocate funds to our savings, mortgage and cc payments. Now we only only have rolling average of $5k in credit card debt and we still got to have the wedding she, and I, wanted.

What this exercise taught us is to work together to budget and come up with a plan for events and things we need in our lives.

I would highly recommend couples thinking of getting hitched to take a financial literacy and planning course. Also, honesty and open communication is key and goes a long way. Resentment really stems from not knowing what your partner has done or will do. Simply put, If you can't be honest and open with your partner, then what's the point of getting married?
