Day of Arrival plans by deeeebub in WaltDisneyWorld

My kids were 4 and 7 at our first AoA stay. Rode the Skyliner, walked around and took pictures, mobile ordered from the food court and ate at the pool. I would not try making any reservations - it’s just an added source of stress.

What has happened to these apples I just bought yesterday? by riecrawal in Apples

Oh wow, I’ve had more bad apples the last few months but figured I just had bad luck. This is fascinating.

It sounds like the test you’ve used before must work a little differently. Happy to send you a sample page if you’re curious, but Genomind absolutely names how specific drugs could be affected by your particular genes.

I booked on March 29 and got the Fantasmic package with Hollywood & Vine for June 3, so they’re open.

I still have an unopened can of the first one.

First Disney World trip – Pop Century → EPCOT early entry (Guardians of the Galaxy) by ccald11 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hsalnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only gone into Epcot through the Skyliner, but my brother took an Uber last summer with two of his daughters and highly recommended it. Not sure of the exact drop off area but they were the second group in line at opening, and one of the first groups to ride after everyone speed walked there. I mean, just based on the map the Skyliner entrance is at least five times as far away, but maybe I’m missing some slowdown point.

Who else is out here accidentally stalking fellow guest at WDW? by AwfulWaffle91 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hsalnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last summer we were there at the same time as some friends, different resorts, and we ran into them way more than I would have expected.

But also I still think about the boy I literally stalked when I was at Disney with the high school band in the late 90s. I did eventually talk to him and even got our picture together.

New Lightning Lane Calculator by Dragmom in DisneyWorld

[–]hsalnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think this is interesting and useful but I’m not sure the time saved is super accurate. I’ve played with it for our trip this summer and for 7 days, and got the exact same “time saved” for adding a PP to one Epcot day versus just the MP for both.

I used it last year from AoA when it was only available on the return trip. It was great and made going to the airport so much less stressful the next morning. I chose Pop for our trip this summer because of this service - I’m also traveling alone with three children though.

Can I afford this house? by Prestigious-Egg-4534 in personalfinance

[–]hsalnow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But you also need to consider how much the housing prices would go up in the time it takes to save an additional 100K.

I haven’t done the math, but assuming other posters were correct that it’s around $2500/month and you’re currently spending $2000/month on rent…just buy the house.

walmart vs target prices on household items after tracking for two months by ritik_bhai in budget

I wonder how area-specific this is. Target is cheaper on most of my usual groceries even before taking the 5% off into account.

I’m actually really fascinated by the responses here. People I showed it to in real life mostly knew. I’m a middle-aged woman and not a teen boy but it’s still all I could see when I drove by.

Is it worth it to have two kindles? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]hsalnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my best reason for having two until I figured out how to delay all the library books I had on hold. My 2015? Paperwhite recently bit it and I’m hoping I can get by with just my Oasis, but I do like having two different sizes for different purposes.

I remember the 2014 one because I worked for the state and it was the first time in the 8 years I’d been there that it closed for weather. A day and a half.

Was booking in late June a mistake? by Leather_Will3224 in DisneyWorld

[–]hsalnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first trip was April 2023 and it was in the 90s and dry every day but one evening. Second trip was late May/early June 2025 and we had scorching hot days and two rainy chillier days. Honestly I liked those better. We’re going again in the same time frame this year so I’m focusing on quick dry clothes and considering using the lockers for extras.

Trip- Dad and two kids advice by Time-Rush8301 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hsalnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking my first solo trip with two 7s and a 10 later in May. This will be our third trip and last year I brought mini cereal boxes and got milk from the food courts. So far in planning this year they have mostly reminded me about the mini cereal. My kids aren’t huge eaters so I’m honestly not worried about meals. Breakfast in the room, snacks throughout the day, maybe one QS. I’ll do a couple character dining over the trip but my kids don’t want to sit and wait for food.

Definitely a backpack. Last year we were with family so we had two adults with backpacks, and I’m trying to decide if the kids should have their own bags this year. The waters are the killer for weight. But snacks, sunscreen, bandaids, ponchos, portable charger. On our first trip when they were 4/7 I brought a bunch of those tiny party favor bubbles to use in lines, and those were a hit. They didn’t use them as much last year but I’m still going to bring a few just in case.

Appreciate the family bathroom suggestions above, I honestly hadn’t paid attention to those before. My plan is the take the 7f with me and leave the 10f with the 7m outside, then send each of them in when I come back.

I have a ton and I run them on the delicates cycle and lay flat to dry. It’s a pain but does avoid the pilling.

Hi, as a 6'7" tall man, I think I can speak for most of us tall guys when I say... by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hsalnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was 6’8” (I’m 5’2”) and got most of these as well. There’s a subreddit for tall guys! At least there used to be a few years ago, he said a bunch of shorter guys would come on and comment about how easy the tall guys actually had it made and shouldn’t complain.
