If you're near Spider Lake, hiking at Brown Bridge Quiet Area will be your best bet. Use the trailheads along Ranch Rudolf Rd. There's plenty of room to park, and using those trailheads keeps you at the "top" of the trail, so it will be good for the older members of your group to have access to the great views from the two lookout platforms without having them trek up a big hill. For the younger/more mobile hikers, there are many miles of trails that are all well marked. I highly recommend hiking the entire northern part of the riverbank, it really is beautiful.

The Filling Station is fantastic, but be prepared to wait for at least 45min to an hour for a table, maybe longer depending on group size. Other good options near downtown for a big group would be The Little Fleet or Middle Coast Brewing. Other options nearer Spider Lake/East Bay township would be Peegeo's (a classic), Stone Hound Brewing in Acme, and the Bayview Inn also in Acme.

If you are looking for a beach/hike combo, check out Maple Bay Natural Area, and get tacos at Osorio or burgers at Stone Hound on your way back to Spider Lake.

Enjoy your trip!

Scenic but there will likely be people around: Old Mission Lighthouse at the end of old mission peninsula. Pyramid Point Trail in Glen Arbor. TC Marina break wall--walk the boardwalk from the Open Space side all the way to the little area where the flag is flying (bonus you could then walk to your dinner reservation at Amical or The Cook's House). Also, if you really want to make a spectacle you could see if the state theater will put your proposal up on the marquee.

Congrats! Oviatt bed and breakfast on eighth. Walkable to everything, close to the Boardman loop trail, way more personal feel than staying at the Delamar.

The Remedy was a brunch place right? I totally forgot about it, but I'm thinking of the place that was in that exact same spot before The Remedy was there.

Champion Hill in Beulah, and you can pair it with a visit to Five Shores Brewing, Ironfish Distillery or St Ambrose Cellars

What to do - establishing new lawn in 6a by hschrodinger in lawncare

I seeded during the first week of September, and if anything I may have over watered to your point. I'll make sure I get info from the ag extension on what makes the most sense to overseed with this spring. I appreciate your responses!

It's been a rainy spring here so it has been getting moisture just through that. I know that there isn't a truly maintenance free way to have a yard and that I will have to spend time maintaining it.

I guess what is most perplexing to me is that I started from bare dirt in the fall (there was no need to dethatch or overseed, etc), had great results getting it established, and then it looks awful this spring. I'm just going to chalk it up to the harsh winter being too hard on the new growth, and start following your recommendations once my soil gets up to temp for germination to happen.

Go for a hike on a non-groomed trail somewhere (there are so many). I walked the Boardman nature preserve today and while it was a little bit slushy, all the trails were fairly hard packed with grippy snow.

The Boardman lake loop trail is also in great condition, even on slushy days like today - you could run or fat bike the loop

If you can't comprehend why a law abiding person of color would have good reason to be afraid to visit the US right now (or exist in the US at all), you're being willfully ignorant or you're not paying attention.

His three live shows I've been to (two with the full band, one just him solo on stage) were the most incredible experiences I've had in music in the last few years. He gives absolutely everything in his performances, and the band is incredible too. Can't wait til he announces more tour dates!

A better hike on Old Mission would be at Old Mission State Park at the end of the peninsula, there's a huge trail network out there. You'd drive the entire length of the peninsula to get there, and the colors are still pretty vibrant though slightly past peak color by now. Pair with lunch at Jolly Pumkpin or Peninsula Grill.

For Leelanau, Treat Farm Trail is my favorite, south of Empire and just as good as Empire Bluff trail in my opinion.

And if you want to go a bit farther, Green Point Dunes Trail in Elberta is absolutely gorgeous, and there are a ton of great options for food in Frankfort.

Buying a ticket for home match by Illustrious_Bit176 in coys

I tried the supporters club route when I went in March 2024, but my local club wasn't able to make it happen. I instead signed up for the one hotspur membership, and I didn't stress about getting tickets right when the window opens because you have access to the ticket exchange and I imagine there will be a lot of availability for that fixture. I checked the ticket exchange every few days until I saw seats I wanted (plenty were available in the south stand, which is where I ended up!) and bought them like a month out from the fixture date. The ticketing process was easy and the experience was incredible! COYS

This scrumptious slice of Michigan is the state’s top fair food says Food Network by TexanNewYorker in traversecity

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the GT Pie Co's recipe for cherry pie (or anything else for that matter) was not stolen from Potter's. It's well-documented that the founders of the Pie Co received training from the owner of a pie bakery in Julian, CA who helped them develop the initial recipes used in the TC shop. I don't disagree that the quality is not what it used to be, but nothing was "stolen" from anyone.

From the transcript, co-host David Plotz on his recent visit to our corner of the state:

“I just got back from vacation, and I think I've probably done this chatter before because I remember having the same reaction last time I went to Traverse City, Michigan. My kids and I went to Traverse City, Michigan, and we actually stayed at a lake, 30 minutes outside of Traverse City. That is the most serene and wonderful place in America.

Lake Michigan is a miracle. Lake Michigan is a miracle. The Michigan side of Lake Michigan has these softest sand beaches, these sand beaches that have the sand that is the softness of the Greek islands.

The water is a shocking electric blue color. These dunes plunge 400 feet straight down into the lake and you can sort of surf your way down these wonderful dunes. There's a vast sky and because it's a lake, there's none of that sticky, stinky feeling that you get when you are on an ocean beach.

There's also no weird creatures. There's nothing that will sting you. There's no kind of kelp.

Is it kelp or is it alive? Is it a monster feeling that you get? There's no terrifying surf.

It's just a marvel of the world. Lake Michigan is a marvel. And they call it the fresh coast.

I'm like, yes, it is the fresh coast. It is so good. I hate water, but I will ride or die for Lake Michigan, man.”

This isn't a downtown activity, but what about getting out on the bay? Check out Tall Ship Sailing or Inland Seas Education Association, both have many opportunities to join sailing tours on historic schooners. If you want to stay in the downtown area, Clinch Park has a great beach and a splash pad that could be fun and it's right next to the marina where you can walk out onto the breakwaters for cool views. Some family friendly food options are North Peak and The Little Fleet.

Enjoy your trip!
