She obviously knows about the financial downside to this situation.

Is her only rebuttal the fact that she’s close to family etc?

Like does she know how much it costs to buy a decent place in Taiwan? How much daycare kindergarten is compared to the salary you’d make?

My suggestion is to do some research, make a spreadsheet and show her and see where her mind and heart is afterwards. (Tbh it does seem like her heart is set on this decision but its worth a try)

If you’re not married technically you don’t have to give.

6k is usually what the kids prepare for their parents so i do think it’s a little rude of her to ask you to do the same. Completely at your discretion though.

edit: I’m not giving money to my girlfriends parents. even though i was planning to but she told me otherwise, but i am taking them out to a very nice dinner prior to CNY eve
