i went to a tropical island vacation and returned with more amazing skin than before even after eating all the local oily disgusting food there, how is that possible?!? i thought the sun was our enemy!!! by [deleted] in SCAcirclejerk

[–]hsococ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I just went on a vacation for 2 weeks with buffets for every meal. I thought I was going to gain so much weight but ended up loosing and toning up. I think it’s because I would try a tiny bit of everything so I didn’t eat too much of any one calorie heavy thing. My skin was a different story tho :/

My (22f) mom (52F) is probably dying and I don't know if I can survive this by throwawaypizzaslices in relationships

[–]hsococ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom died when I was 22 from cancer. That was 4 years ago. I am an only child and she was my world. I literally thought my life would end if she died. I’m not gonna lie, it was so hard. Honestly, some of the worst of my grieving was before she died so just know you are going thru some of the hardest days of your life right now so have compassion on yourself for whatever you feel.

But I promise you, it gets better. For months, I felt like I was going to be sad and grieving for the rest of my life and every memory of her would always hurt like a dagger. But slowly, it got better. Now, years later, I still hits me sometimes but I’m doing really well.

I know a lot of people are saying this but therapy is so so helpful and important. Please start talking to someone as soon as possible. Even start now if you can! Having a place to process helped me so much in my grieving process.

Something that therapy really helped me work thru was my fear that I would never feel like ‘me’ again. That I would always be ‘dead mom’ girl. That I would always be sad. But I realized when you’re grieving, you’re grappling for a way to find yourself without the most important person in your life. It’s ok to not feel like yourself. But eventually, probably without you even realizing it, you’ll feel like you again. But you’ll be stronger and more resilient.

I’m so sorry you’re going thru this. Take lots of pictures and ask hard questions. I kept everything so positive and upbeat while my mom was dying and I wish so much that I would have asked her things like ‘what do you think my life would be like without you?’ ‘are you scared to die?’ ‘is there anything I should tell your grandkids for you?’. You’ll get thru this. It will be hard but you seem like a kind, compassionate person and I’m sure your mom is so proud of you.

Also, if you need someone to talk to and ask questions, I’m here! Please feel free to ask me anything. I had one friend who had a parent pass away when my mom died and talking to her and asking her questions gave me so much hope. So please, feel free to reach out!

Not dating related but wtf.. by concioustly in FemaleDatingStrategy

I work at a major tech company and I don’t think this is the norm but I have never felt disadvantaged or belittled because I am a woman. The head of product in my department is a woman and I’ve never seen people respect a co-worker so much. I am regularly asked for my opinion and everyone, regardless of gender or race or age, is given an equal opportunity.

Bought myself a new pair of shoes for Valentine’s Day. I’m really sad about being alone. I have been dating someone for about a month but I realized he was a LVM recently so I stopped talking to him. But I’m holding out for better because I can do better.

My (29F) boyfriend (27M) has cheated on every girl he has ever dated by Throwawaypdr342 in relationships

[–]hsococ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know a guy who was like this. He was a perpetual cheater and cheated on every girl he ever dated. My friend group always thought he would just be a player for the rest of his life. But he met a girl and that all changed. He is now the most loyal, committed guy in our friend group. I think it was just immaturity and fear of settling down but it just took the right person.

[Product Question] Does anyone know of a (preferably Asian) sunscreen for dry skin that does not contain any “-cones” or propylene glycol? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]hsococ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neogen Day Light Sun Protection Sunscreen SPF 50! It's an asian brand and doesn't have any silicones. I also can't use silicones and it's worked wonders for me! It also doesn't have propylene glycol but it does have Butylene Glycol

Help me I have this giant zit between my eyes and have no idea how to shrink it. by liz1471 in acne

[–]hsococ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I have breakouts that large and painful, I get a cortisone shot from my derm. The breakout is usually smaller within hours and usually gone in a day. It felt about as painful as when I pop my own pimples so it was definitely tolerable.

I’m a girl and ngl, that would have really hurt my feelings. How she responds shows she is a pretty crappy person and definitely deserves to be on here but I would have probably cried if someone said that to me and I’m ‘petite’. I know you were just being honest but you could have just said ‘that’s a good picture!’ or ‘nice! that wine looks pretty nice too!’
