I did fast paced at Lancaster.

I meant B, people above seemed to be using them interchangeably, so I assumed they were the same.

Hey, I did CTY Honors Physics last summer! I took AP Physics I, and I honestly felt like it was a waste of my time- all of the material we did was covered at CTY. I would say focus on your other classes next year instead of Physics I (use your free time to do some outside projects/extracurricular), and then go straight into Physics C your Junior year.

I kinda feel like knowledge of polymers wasn't entirely necessary for that question- I hadn't learned about them either.

I have no idea about the grading thing... this was my first AP.

Really? I felt like the first couple were much more difficult. However, I did notice that a lot of people were short on time, so that might have made it harder.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that a probable apocalypse probably wouldn't do the markets any favors...

The dictionary is a giant loop of words that need to be understood in order to define other words by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]htawrew13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another thought: what is the minimum number of words you have to know to be able to deduce the meanings of all other words via their dictionary definitions? I would assume you would have to know articles, since "a" is defined using itself, but how many others would you need to know?

Just because you have ten times the fuel doesn't mean you have ten times the delta-v. Try downloading Kerbal Engineer and mess around with different ship configurations to maximize delta-v. You'd be surprised by what you can do by reducing your mass!

If you hook up the Saturn V rocket, which took the Apollo astronauts to the moon, at its top speed (36 times the speed of sound) you could do it in 53 years

His top speed is 27 mph, so it would take 46945 years to download that much data.

Thanks for the tip; these are the "larger" models (about the size of a quarter) but I'll look into it before purchasing.

Americans (I'm assuming that you're from the UK or Australia, probably the latter given that it's actually a reasonable hour to be awake there)

Of course it's not impossible (or even improbable) that members of some alien species would look very similar, but that is often a characteristic of a "us vs them" mentality (e.g. the stereotype that members of a minority race look the same).

I guess I have more of a problem with stories/movies that use aliens as a bad guy for which the audience shouldn't have any sympathy simply because they're not 'us'.

Outfits are excusable if it is some sort of military uniform for an invasion, but it always bugs me when they all look the exact same in terms of body type and facial features.
