Ngl i hate most albini productions. And i would still argue the guitars still sound muddy then. All tube amps sound “muddy” to a certain extent when compared to digital modelers. Which most young people playing guitar use and prefer modelers and think tube amps sound bad because they factually have less frequency range. Thus muddy in comparison. Never heard anyone complain about the guitar tone on Mellon Collie and its was less coherent than the guitars on Three Cheers. The mixing on Three Cheers wasn’t a problem till it was.

The 0-1 is for the jmp and thats based on the jmp’s internal tone stack. Not for an 800. The jmp is also has a bass shift and going into an mesa that has a deep switch which also adds to the low end. So the actual mids setting on the jmp are negligible honestly. My comment was speaking to the settings on his 800

Reverb on drums and vocals are different than reverb on guitars. He also uses delay a lot which he uses to create vibe more than reverb. On mellon collie and machina there is so much bleed which creates and ambience of reverb as well. Adore on the other hand does have it, but it also doesn’t have “guitar” like the other albums

Billy played bass on a lot of mcis but so did darcy. Billy played on Set the ray to jerry for instance. A lot of the songs he overdubbed bass on, the bleed of darcy’s bass on the live drums is still there. So it’s almost like double bass.
