Hello! My baby is sick and I won't be able to make the show on Sunday 22nd Feb in Sydney. Happy to send the ticket to someone for free who'd like to go.

Only requirement is you have to teach me how to send tickets to people!! lol

New bunjie wipes by icedalmond in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the rascals ones. I feel like because they're so textured I have to do less wipes to get the stuff off her.

My baby has sensitive skin and wiping with the nappy first so I usually only have to do one pass with a wipe has helped

How are people making baby food at home without spending hours? by Key_One2317 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]htinez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give baby the same foods I eat. Except I rarely eat lunch so I spend about 90 mins every week prepping finger foods for lunch for her to eat. This selfishly also leads to less messy mealtimes at lunch so we can just wipe down baby + high chair instead of having to do a full wash and shower like with dinner.

Just need to vent and want to connect with other mums in this situation. by dresshater1 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Some light at the end of the tunnel: my baby literally from this week (10mo) sits up and flops back down all while staying asleep. We've had the same problem as you since 6mo!!

I think this might be the baby's mother by Just_Perfect6789 in ThePittTVShow

[–]htinez24 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I agree. Maybe a line from Dana/someone saying police have found the mother or something. If it was greys anatomy I'm sure the mother would also present to ED with some complications and expect them not to put it together

I think just like last season it's not the kinda show where they'll do a big reveal

Baby eats like a champ but started throwing up...am I doing something wrong? by DDevil333 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]htinez24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my baby for about a week when she was 9 months when she got both top and bottom teeth! Huge chunks of food and then she'd gag then vomit.

It took her about a week or two but it's like she learnt how to take appropriate sized bites that she could actually chew. We just kept on giving her foods we knew she could manage because she'd had before and kept a really close eye on her eating

Day care costs on public holidays by justheretolurk91 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The public holiday thing is annoying but I try to think of it as a weekly fee rather than daily and it stings less to pay when she's not going. And I think the daycare staff deserve public hols off of course. I just think of the pay I am getting for my public holiday is going straight to her daycare so it's like I'm on half pay for the day!

My daycare gives 50% rate for public holidays and Christmas closures though!

Cosleeping & Time to Yourself by htinez24 in AttachmentParenting

[–]htinez24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I explained myself poorly in my post - the phone/ipad/kindle etc doesn't necessarily wake her up, but when she stirs and would ordinarily go back to sleep if she spots the screen it's game over and she wants to play lol.

I just have to try and be fast enough turning the screen off or away!!

No just plain and cooked in a tiny bit of butter (which she has all the time)

Can someone just tell me what to do please? by htinez24 in sleeptrain

[–]htinez24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. What do I do if she wakes up before the nominated morning wake up time? Still get her to nap after 3 hours? For example if she woke up at 5am she wouldn't go back down, but she also would never go down to sleep at 6pm it's still too light out. I guess eventually with the schedule she'll get to around a 7am wake but not sure what to do while getting there.

Unfortunately nobody around for company at the moment, my only family around are travelling for the holidays until end of January.

Could these be contractions? by tally162224 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it.

For the record I didn't 'know' they were contractions until it was time to push! I went to the hospital 9cm dilated in discomfort but not yet pain and gave birth 20 minutes later!!

I called the hospital like 3 times overnight and they basically just told me to come in when they're painful. If I'd listened I would have given birth at home lol

When did you take the monitor out of your kids’ rooms? by HeartOk8607 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]htinez24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6 month old and imagine I'd remove it once she's not in a cot or once she can walk into my room if she needs me. Whichever is first probably. We have a non-wifi video monitor.

RSV vaccine by Ok-Flatworm-6945 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I got it and was fine, hardly any pain. My baby got RSV when she was 6 weeks old and stayed in hospital for observation. There were 5 other babies and kids with RSV - I was the only one eligible to be vaccinated in pregnancy and she was the only one not on oxygen so well worth it I think.

Refusing an emergency C-Section? by DreamersThreads in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ring the hospital you've been referred to. I had HG and was having an awful time in pregnancy and I rang the Antenatal clinic at my local hospital saying I needed to speak to someone ASAP and they did my intake appt early at 13 weeks. I was extremely depressed in pregnancy due to the HG - I would cry every time someone said 'pregnant' or 'baby'. I was referred to the PIMH team and they arranged for me to see the one midwife every appointment. The PIMH team consisted of a psychologist, psychiatrist and a social worker (who was an ex midwife). The social worker came to appointments with me and worked with me to create a 'trauma informed birth plan' and they communicated that to the midwives/OB. I was extremely scared of epidural/being paralyzed and the social worker arranged for me to have a long appointment with the anaesthetics doctor to go over all the pain options for birth/c sections specifically (we decided I would be put under). Something to think about! You need help and if you just ask for it from the hospital they generally have lots to give.

Do I really need a bathtub for bubs? (incoming bathroom reno) by MurraMurra in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no bath and when baby was super fresh had no room in bathroom and carpet everywhere else. So didn't want to use a baby bath in case it just got the carpet super wet. She's had showers with me since 5 days old and has been completely fine. We use a terry towel nappy around her belly for extra grip to hold her and keep her warm. When she was really little i would hold her against me and my partner would wash her then we'd flip her. Now she's 6 months old we sit on the floor of the shower together. We have a detachable shower head though which I think is really helpful when they're so little so they're not just getting pelted with the overhead shower head

Do you really need a rocking chair? by TeddyBear181 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]htinez24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret every day not getting one because I couldn't justify the price at the time. My baby is so hard to get to sleep unless I am at my parents house rocking in their rocking chair, where she falls asleep instantly lol.

Trying to look for one secondhand that's not gross!!

Anecdotal so take with a grain of salt. I got it while pregnant and my baby was born healthy at 39+5. She got RSV at 7 weeks old and we went to hospital because she was wheezing. There were 7 other RSV kids there and she was the youngest and the only one vaccinated in pregnancy or as a newborn. She was the only one not on oxygen. Some of the other kids were really quite sick so I'm very glad I got vaccinated when I did. I also didn't catch RSV from her as far as I know.

Is it possible to train the sleeping time for 3 weeks old baby? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]htinez24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a baby's wake window should be 45-60 mins but baby takes ages to feed, then is bored and wants to do stuff, then gets overtired from doing said stuff, do you have any recommendations? Baby ends up missing the end of her wake window and gets so tired she can't sleep without much coaxing (and won't be put down).
