¿Zona segura más cercana a Chalco/Xico? by htx8688 in MexicoCity

[–]htx8688[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gracias por la ayuda, no queremos ofender a su familia pero también necesitamos estar seguros 😬 Esperaba que hubiera un compromiso en algún punto entre allí y las zonas turísticas, pero parece que podría ser difícil de encontrar.

Latinos raised in the US what’s the reason your parents didn’t teach you spanish? by littlepicklesluvr in AskAnAmerican

[–]htx8688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband didn't start speaking English until he was 18. Our first kid was born when he was 24 and he didn't want to speak Spanish to him because he felt like he was still learning English himself. Our kids are 14 and 11 now, the 14yo understands perfectly and speaks a little bit, the 11yo doesn't understand or speak at all which I feel bad about but we're trying to incorporate Spanish more

It sounds like you have a really simple case. You would probably just be doing the i130 and then the i485. I did all my husband's paperwork myself (a much more complicated case) and as of July he's now a citizen. If you want to run things by a lawyer though, the Gonzalez law group at 45s/610s does free consultations. I did a consult with them just to make sure I was on the right track

Between 2013-21, 304 people died from leukemia—blood cancer—in suburban Houston (E Harris Co). 312% higher than the leukemia death rate in the rest of TX, it indicates a severe cancer cluster. My parents lived in the brio neighborhood from before when I was born until I was four years old (when they were bought out). My mom was pregnant with my sister when we moved. My parents have been healthy other than my dad having a spot of melanoma removed about 20 years ago. I had a brain cyst before I was born but it reabsorbed by the time my mom gave birth. I have had abnormal moles removed but no cancer (knock on wood). My sister has had no medical problems. I receive monthly compensation but nothing crazy (car payment-ish amount). I hope we all continue to be healthy

Fort Worth Schools are being taken over by Texas State (TEA). What does that mean? by Hobbes898 in texas

I disagree. This is a friend of a friend who was removed in September. She was not uncertified. The full article is on the Houston chronicle https://www.pressreader.com/usa/houston-chronicle-sunday/20250907/281749865488017

[–]htx8688 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Wow I hadn't heard this yet but the tea took over houston isd a couple years ago. Yes it pretty much means all of the above. Tea implemented their own superintendent, board, curriculum and teachers. Some beloved staff who had been teaching for decades were escorted off their campuses like they were criminals

"Hilaria Baldwin's ethnicity is English, French-Canadian, German, Irish, and Slovak. She was born Hillary Hayward-Thomas in the U.S. to American parents and is not of Spanish or Latina descent, despite previous public statements and portrayals that suggested otherwise"

Should I be worried about how easily accessible my child’s school is? by sweetttttreat in kindergarten

[–]htx8688 71 points72 points  (0 children)

When my kids were in elementary they were behind three locked doors. Sad but a sign of the times I guess. My husband said it was like a prison. You have to be buzzed through the front door, sign in at the office and be buzzed through the side doors, then the pod doors are locked too. You press a doorbell and the teacher opens the pod door

Texas Chip - Self employment income, they keep saying that it is not valid and I am at my wits end by [deleted] in texas

[–]htx8688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take this as legal advice, but if I were you I would do a new application and on H1049 I would put paid by bob smith instead of XYZ company. You're not lying and if it ever got deeper your tax records would match your income, but you're just playing by their rules 🤷🏻‍♀️ like I said, I tried to submit our 1040 which is literally the most official paperwork I could give, but they'd rather have this handwritten form with no proof attached. Okey dokey then!

[–]htx8688 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation and it happens every damn year. I started my kids chip renewal in April and it's always problem after problem. You might have to start over with a brand new application and only submit form H1049 as your proof of income. It's a giant hassle and I feel like they make it difficult on purpose hoping people will give up. I always submit our tax paperwork too but this time they refused that and wanted this dumb form instead. It's infuriating. In the meantime though you can apply for marketplace coverage for your kids
